A year in review

The 2017 – 2018 school year will go down as one to remember.

Throughout the school year, I covered many things from girls and boys varsity basketball to class officer interviews to ring ceremonies. Below is my favorite things I covered this school year.

  • I started the year with a spotlight on the Junior Class officers for the 2018 – 2019 school year and it gave me insight into how the whole process worked and helped me grow as a journalist.

  • I started tinkering with our journalism camera as I shot pictures of the “Deck the Halls” holiday celebration, a month-long event to promote spirit and festivities within the high school. As I began to take pictures I explored the reaches of YouTube to help me better understand the camera settings and how to get the best photograph.

  • I covered the Sophomore Class Ring Ceremony.

  • My favorite thing to do all year was to put together video spotlights on our elite Varsity Basketball teams. The Boys Basketball spotlight can be found here. The Girls Basketball spotlight can be found here.

  • I wrote an editorial on Alabama Special Election.

  • I wrote a spotlight on how Coach Alan Yenji was leading their team to states.

  • I wrote an article on what Junior Leadership Wilkes-Barre was and how myself and the other four students felt about the program and their community service project.

  • Here’s a multimedia presentation on our Trojanette Cheerleaders.

But that’s not the half of it. Check out my staff profile for a full list of all of the articles that I contributed to. Although my favorite thing to do is to snap pictures at sporting events I steered clear of spring sports because of certain schedule restrictions. However, next year I plan to cover fall sports and continue covering winter sports.
