My name is Amaya Zegarski, and I am a sophomore here at Greater Nanticoke Area. This is my first year taking Journalism. Currently, I am the Sophomore Vice President for the 2025-2026 school year. I’m involved in many other extracurricular activities within our campus, such as Key Club, Student Council, and chorus. I have also been actively participating in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) competition since I was in 8th grade.
I’ve lived in Nanticoke my whole life, and I’ve been attending GNA since kindergarten. Outside of school, I’m a HUGE Swiftie. I spend most of my time listening to Taylor’s music and constantly making friendship bracelets to share with other Swifties I come across out in the wild. My absolute favorite Taylor Swift song is “tolerate it” from her ninth studio album, evermore. There have even been multiple occasions where I find myself buying her merch during my lunchtime. If it were up to me, I’d consider that a full-time job. I may sing every Taylor Swift lyric, and she may be my entire personality, but I have many other things that I am obsessed with. I’ve loved cats ever since I was a kid. I actually have one cat named Roscoe. They’ve always been special animals to me. This year, I plan to volunteer at the SPCA part-time. I’m also a huge fan of the Broadway musical Hamilton. It is my favorite Broadway musical of all-time. My biggest passion right now is sports, especially football. My favorite sports team is the Philadelphia Eagles. When I graduate from high school, I plan to go to college at Penn State University and continue to pursue a major in Communications/Sports Journalism. Being an avid Eagles fan, my dream career is to work for the Philadelphia Eagles media team.
