Halloween: a concise history

A brief look into an ever-growing holiday

Halloween is celebrated on October 31 each year. It is a holiday that has continued to grow in popularity and is adored by those who take pleasure in ghosts and goblins. It has been celebrated for over two thousand years.

Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. This day marked the end of summer as well as the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter – a time of year that was often associated with human death. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.

Today, Halloween is mainly considered a holiday for dress-up and fun, especially for children. People usually celebrate the holiday by going to parties, carving pumpkins, and trick-or-treating. Over the years, people have also included a form of trick-or-treating called trunk-or-treating. This is where people decorate their cars and give people candy that way.

As the years move on and Halloween becomes more and more popular, people around the world will continue to celebrate and enjoy the holiday.
