Since 1930, K.M. Smith has been the go to school for early childhood education. As the final days are winding down at K.M., the teachers and students are excited – and sad. Since K.M. Smith has been around for so long, most of the teachers who grew up in Nanticoke/Newport ended up teaching here, went to school at K.M. Smith.

To celebrate the ending of this school and the opening of a new school, the teachers at K.M. Smith held a bash! The bash included a bounce house, an obstacle course, slushies, pizza, raffles and a lot of games.

The GNA Insider sat down with a few teachers to ask them how they felt about leaving the school they’ve been at for 10+ years.

How long have you been teaching at KM?

20 years

What will you miss most about teaching at KM

The KM smith family and friendships over the years.

What are you looking forward to most teaching at the new school?

Air conditioning and a bigger classroom.

13 years

What will you miss the most about teaching at KM?

The close knit KM smith family and character of the school building

What are you looking forward to?

Having state of the art technology and having everyone together on one campus.
