Tigerstar is a dark brown tabby tom with amber eyes and is the current leader of ShadowClan, ever since his dead body was resurrected in River of Fire. He is the second Tigerstar to lead ShadowClan, and I think that he’s turning into the murderous grandfather he had. There are several things I dislike about Tigerstar II at the moment, and I’ll explain why. However, please note that I’m currently reading The Silent Thaw, and I’m unsure if Tigerstar will change in the upcoming books or not.
Him and Dovepaw
While Tigerstar was a young warrior, Tigerheart, he was sent on a mission to find out why the water at the lake was all dried up. He is sent with Toadfoot and two other cats from each Clan: Lionblaze and Dovepaw of ThunderClan, Whitetail and Sedgewhisker of WindClan, and Rippletail and Petalfur of RiverClan. Tigerheart was friendly to all the Clan cats besides his own, but he was too friendly to Dovepaw. He loved Dovepaw, and Dovepaw was only six moons old, which is a child, and Tigerheart was most likely around twelve to thirteen moons, which is an adult. This is almost as bad as when Thistleclaw went after Spottedleaf when she was also a freshly made apprentice, but Thistleclaw was much older than Tigerheart was. Tigerheart never stopped loving Dovepaw, either, and never stopped protecting her on the journey, and never fought her when their Clans battled each other.
His and Dovewing’s Relationship
Eventually, Dovewing decided to be mates with him, but then chose Bumblestripe instead because she wasn’t breaking the warrior code that way. She and Bumblestripe break up when her powers disappear, but they reunite. When Tigerheart and ShadowClan are forced to seek refuge in ThunderClan, he and Dovewing become close again, and Dovewing even snaps at Bumblestripe that she didn’t want to start a family yet, and a few days later, she disappears. Dovewing doesn’t reappear until she reports to everyone that Tigerheart is dead. She has three kits and reveals that they’re Tigerheart’s, and when he is revived and becomes Tigerstar, she decides that she’s going to join ShadowClan to be with her mate. They care for each other, yes, but I don’t like that Tigerstar cares about her more than his own Clan.
His Leadership
In my opinion, Tigerstar II is an awful leader. He couldn’t agree on a border with SkyClan and forced them to remain isolated from the other Clans due to his greed. I think that the deputy, Cloverfoot, would be a better leader, and would’ve adapted to the swamp that RiverClan had given them to make enough room for SkyClan, or even come to an agreement with SkyClan with the strip of land that Rowanclaw had given them when he was leader. Tigerstar doesn’t even care about his Clan more than he does about Dovewing. When a falling branch hit Dovewing, Antfur, Scorchfur, and Stonewing, Tigerstar insisted on checking on Dovewing before Antfur and Scorchfur, who were more severely injured than Dovewing was. Yes, he has medicine cats, but as a leader, he should be checking on his Clanmates who are near death rather than his mate, who had a mere scratch or two on her. He eventually did check on them, but if Antfur had been hit harder, he could’ve died.
His Fathering
Tigerstar has three kits with Dovewing: Shadowsight, Pouncestep, and Lightleap. He’s one of those fathers who likes to brag about how well his son is doing, and he does just that by saying that Shadowpaw was getting visions from StarClan. I don’t find that as annoying because it was true, but his son was old enough to speak for himself. Shadowsight talks to Tigerstar about the visions he gets, and wants to tell the Clans the truth about the codebreakers vision that he’d gotten when he was still a medicine cat apprentice, but Tigerstar tells him not to tell anyone, just so he could save Dovewing from being exposed.
I don’t like Tigerstar in any way, and I don’t think that if he changes, I’ll like him. I wish he’d use up all his nine lives, and Cloverfoot could be the leader.
