This is a poem that I wrote about wanting to be a flower, and to show my growth through life.

Jazmine Trathen, Student Writer

If I had to choose

I would be a flower;

They die every fall and blossom every spring

But they seem stuck in an everlasting loop

I wouldn’t want to be a flower to be stuck

I would rather be a flower for the simple reason they bloom every spring

Like they’re freeing themselves from their past

So if I had to choose; I will definitely be a flower

Because my past does not define who I’m becoming

Just like every spring; I grow,

Who knows maybe other people see the way I grow

But I am a flower; just I am not as stuck as the other flowers.
