Census 2020: A chance to shape the future

On Friday, students will take home a flyer for parents regarding the 2020 census. Participation in the census is vital in shaping the future of our school district.

GNA CAMPUS- On Census Day, April 1, 2020, you can start shaping your future and the future of all children by counting everyone in your home.

According to the United States Census 2020, a kindergartener counted in the 2020 Census this spring will be starting high school when the next census comes around in 2030: That’s 10 years of school supplies, teachers, school lunches, and so much more. This is your opportunity to help ensure they have a bright future.

Responding to the 2020 census can help build funding for educational programs that benefit our children such as after school activities, school meal programs, and Head Start. It’s more than just a count, it’s an opportunity to shape the next generation.

The 2020 census is a safe, easy, and important way to help provide resources for children and their communities for the next ten years. The census is trying to count children in the home where they live and sleep most of the time, even if their parents don’t live there. If a child’s time is divided between more than one home, count them where they stay most often. If their time is divided, or you don’t know where they stay most often, count them where they are staying on Census Day- April 1, 2020.
