Senior Trip 2019

Every year, the seniors at Greater Nanticoke Area take a five day trip to Disney World in Florida as their last big thing to do as seniors. They patiently wait all year in order to be able to go on this trip, and this past week the seniors finally had their chance to spend a week at the “happiest place on Earth.”

The seniors leave for their trip on Monday at 4:15 AM and load onto a Martz bus to head to the Philadelphia airport. While they are waiting at the airport, they have the time to get some breakfast or snacks. Then, of course, is the long flight to Florida where they start their first day at Magic Kingdom. Within this park, some favorites the seniors loved to ride are Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

After a long and exciting first day, the seniors go back to their hotels, where they wait to start their second day at Hollywood Studios. The seniors get to have their breakfast at the hotel before heading off to the second park. At this park, they visit The Muppets in 3D, Rockin’ Rollercoaster, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and another all-time favorite The Slinky Dog Dash.

The third day kicks off at Universal. This day was the most anticipated for all of the seniors, as everyone had enjoyed this day the most. The seniors had a blast at the Harry Potter World, where they had the chance to bring out their inner wizard for a day, and for some see the school of their dreams. Some other attractions that the seniors loved were Revenge of the Mummy, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, The Simpsons Ride, and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. Over the course of the five days, the seniors also had the chance to stay at the hotel for a while and swim or play ping pong if they didn’t want to spend the whole day at a park.

Day four was started at Epcot. On the day before they left, this day was a calm day for everyone to start getting the last bit of things they would want before they head home the next day. Some favorites from this park were Test Track, and Soarin’ Around the World. There was not an extremely large amount of things to do at this park, but the seniors still had a blast on this day. The seniors also had a great time getting closer while hanging out at the hotel and enjoying a lot of laughs with their friends.

The final day of this trip was at Animal Kingdom. This day was full of fun with seeing different animals and many seniors had a blast here. Many seniors felt as though this was a nice way to start calm down before heading home from this wonderful trip. Some animals that all of the seniors loved to see was a giraffe, a rhinoceros, a mandrill, a meerkcat, a lion, an elephant, and a warthog. After they saw all of the animals that they wanted too, the seniors headed back to the Martz Bus to head to the Florida Airport.
