Songs of the summer 2019: my predictions

Every summer, there seems to be ten songs that are played on the radio constantly. These songs are the so-called “songs on the summer.” These songs often share an upbeat tempo and unmatched energy. What songs will match those requirements this year?

“Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish’s new album surprised fans with its gruesome intensity. While the album features a few upbeat songs, “Bad Guy” sticks out with its intoxicating sound.

“Sunflower” by Post Malone featuring Swae Lee

Post Malone is no stranger to the radio, and his hit “Sunflower” has taken the charts by storm. The meaningful lyrics entice the listener into listening over and over again. Paired with a relaxed beat, this song is perfect for lazy days spent at the beach.

“Sucker” by Jonas Brothers

This song, a pop-infused love song, is easy on the ears and catchy as the boys make their first comeback in seven years.

With an album coming this summer, this single promises music charged with energy.

“7 Rings” by Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande’s new album Thank U, Next took the world and the charts by storm. With hits like “thank u, next” and “imagine,” it wasn’t a surprise. However, the song “7 rings,” in which Grande flexes her wealth and healthy relationships, has an addicting beat.

“Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus

What started as a meme for many became a real hit with Lil Nas X’s debut. The song became popular thanks to the well-known social media platform TikTok. The lines “I got the horses in the back / Horse tack is attached” quickly caught on, earning the song a top spot on Billboard. However, it was not considered a country song by Billboard. Billy Ray Cyrus, famous for his 1992 hit “Achy Breaky Heart” and his daughter Miley Cyrus, sang on the remix in order to help the song reach its country song quo.

“Close to Me” by Ellie Goulding x Diplo featuring Swae Lee

Released earlier this year, this song features an intoxicating chorus paired with an attractive rap made by Swae Lee. It’s all too easy to fall in love with.

“Boy with Luv” by BTS

Released two weeks ago, “Boy With Luv” shocked listeners with its vintage, classic boy group sound. The soft song featured American pop singer Halsey for an added twist. Their harmonies are easy on the ears, a perfect song for a lazy summer evening.
