2019 softball preview
The spring sports season is upon us and the Nanticoke Softball team has been dominant in recent years. The team finished 15-7 last season and had a devastating loss in the Final Four to Bethlehem Catholic losing 11-0 in the seventh inning. This year’s team will be led by seniors Brinley Sobeck, Jilann Baron, Katie King, and Liz Redenski. Juniors Gabby Rakowski and Jen Kurkoski, and Freshman Olivia Nice.
The Trojannette’s lost two top players to graduation, Miranda Bohn and Meghan Murphy, who played in a huge role in the Trojannette’s 2018 season. But filling their shoes there won’t be a big worry on the field with all the returning players.
The offense looks to have some depth this year with more sophomores coming up with big bats and the defense is solid as always.
In the 2018 season, the Trojannette’s went to the WVC Championship and went to the Final Four bound. However, keeping the tradition, the Trojannette’s will fight to represent GNA with dignity, success, and class.
First-year Head Coach Leanne Harvey is excited to be named head coach and hopes to continue the success to the 2019 softball season.
My name is Jen Kurkoski, and I am a junior at Greater Nanticoke Area High School. This is my first year working for The GNA Insider.
