WIN periods return to GNA

In response to the new Keystone exam requirements, both the GNA high school and middle school will be running on a WIN period for each Tuesday and Thursday for the rest of March, and the following month of April. These WIN periods are designed to offer extra preparation for students who will be taking the spring Keystone exams.

All other students with the extended homeroom period may take advantage of the time to briefly review for a test, work on homework, re-take a missed test, or do something else productive.

The acronym WIN stands for What I Need. The schedule below presents all the times of classes on Tuesday and Thursday when the school runs on a WIN period.

This was not the first time that GNA has offered a WIN period before. There were also a set of WIN periods this last November into this past December for students who did not achieve “proficient” on a certain subject of the state Keystone exams. Upon release of the 2018 Keystone Winter session, it has been quickly realized how successful the WIN periods have been. The data has shown that those students who have attended WIN periods increased their scores by 44%.

This new set of WIN periods are being proctored by the following teachers: Mr. Carey (Room 204), Mrs. Jeffries (Room 219), Ms. Warman (Room 110), and Mr.Yengi (Room 211), Mr. Collins (Room 220), Mr. Mikulski (Room 212), Mr. Rauh (Room 108), Mr. Prushinski (Room 116), Mr. Coval (Room 114), and Ms. Rozelle (Room 202) totaling 8 classrooms. The subjects of preparation include Algebra 1, Literature, and Biology. By better preparing students, GNA hopes to boost our overall Keystone exam grades.
