After several weeks of campaigning, speeches, and wide-spread anticipation, GNA’s election roster for all participating classes is now filled out in completion. The GNA Insider has had the opportunity to interview the newly elected sophomore class officers: President Heidi Bittner, Vice President Taylor Bartle, Secretary Genevieve Nalepa, and Treasurer Alec Todd:

Heidi-

What was your reason for running for class office?

I ran because I wanted to represent my wonderful peers as a class of 2021, to show people it’d be okay to get out of your comfort zone, and to try something new!

Why is serving as an officer important to you?

I feel like being an officer is important, because you get to become the face of your class. You become a role model for your peers and friends.

What are you looking forward to doing as a class officer?

Definitely the new ideas that will be coming to the table with new faces representing our class.

What are your plans for class events such as the ring ceremony?

To make them as inclusive and entertaining, but yet sincere as possible.

What kind(s) of extracurriculars do you participate in?

I have been a member of the GNA cheer team for about four years now.

Do you have any ideas for new events that your class can hold?

We should have an assembly at the end of the year so all classes can say goodbye to their peers and friends before the summer. You only get to experience high school once after all.

Taylor-

What was your reason for running for class office?

I wanted to help make decisions and plan projects to help improve our school.

Why is serving as an officer important to you?

Because it gives me the ability to the very best for my class and friends.

What are you looking forward to doing as a class officer?

Definitely looking forward to the class ring ceremony.

What are your plans for class events such as the ring ceremony?

Honestly I’m very excited to get our rings.

What kind(s) of extracurriculars do you participate in?

I am a part of the GNA swim team, volleyball and track and field.

Do you have any ideas for new events that your class can hold?

Personally I don’t think that we need any new events or parties.

Genevieve-

What was your reason for running for class office?

Mostly for the experience, and for a better step into next year.

Why is serving as an officer important to you?

It would help me make a difference for my class.

What are you looking forward to doing as a class officer?

Organizing events and helping plan ceremonies.

What are your plans for class events such as the ring ceremony?

Just having a good environment and atmosphere for people during the event.

What kind(s) of extracurriculars do you participate in?

I’ve been a part of soccer, Basketball and track.

Do you have any ideas for new events that your class can hold?

All of the classes should have a Christmas party for the holidays.

Alec-

What was your reason for running for class office?

I ran for class office because I thought I’d make a great addition to our team here.

Why is serving as an officer important to you?

Serving as officer is important to me because I feel like some students don’t like school as much as they could, and I want to do as much as I can to possibly make it better for us as students.

What are you looking forward to doing as a class officer?

I’m very excited to provide a positive impact on our class, showing how we can improve.

What are your plans for class events such as the ring ceremony?

My plans for the ring ceremony are to make sure that people are happy, even if they didn’t order or receive a class ring.

What kind(s) of extracurriculars do you participate in?

I participate in track and field. I throw for shot-put and javelin, but I wouldn’t say I’m great at either.

Do you have any ideas for new events that your class can hold?

I think that some of the ideas for events aren’t new at all. I think we should bring back a school-wide field day, which would be fun for those participating and watching.
