What is World Kindness Day?

World Kindness Day (November 13), is a day where everyone all around the world is encouraged to spread kindness like an infectious cold. It began in 1998 with the World Kindness Movement, the peak of the global kindness body. Though a very kind and well-thought out holiday, World Kindness Day should be any act practiced not only on this day, but on every day of the year.

Throughout the world, people do not show enough appreciation of each other. Even a simple act like smiling back to a person who smiles at you, or saying hello to a person who does the same to you, can make you feel good inside, and can have the same effect well on the other person. People let other people, objects, and situations tip them over the edge, and get angry over the smallest deed. Happiness in world is dying; what should we all do to revive it?

What we should do is come together and reinvigorate world kindness. Something as small as smiling to your teacher, or a school custodian, cafeteria worker, police officer, or crossing guard at your school shows signs of kindness that these people rarely get to receive. These are the people who clean up after your mess everyday, the ones who guide you across the street safely, cook your meals, and keep you safe while in school. So, all of us together should take a minute and greatly thank these people who keep our school a clean and healthy environment for all students to show up to everyday. You can just smile at them and say hello, say thank you, or wave to them in the hallway acknowledging their existence rather than ignoring them. These people are not forced to perform their jobs, but rather choose on weather to show up and work every day. So a quick gesture such as saying thank you to these people can make encourage them to work better, make them keep their job, and make them happier while at work. Without these people, GNA or your school would not be a clean and safe environment to learn in, there would be no lunch, no sporting events, and no education all together.

Each and every one of us should spread a little bit of kindness to everyone we see on a daily basis. Just smile, say hello, or say thank you. Say thank you to the staff members at your school, or the teachers, or anybody else you see . If they give to you, give back to them. No act of kindness can go wasted.

Thank you for your service, your work is greatly appreciated by everyone.
