The GNA Insider interviewed the 2017-2018 senior class officers. Together, they led their class and their school with dignity and pride.

Here are the 2017-2018 GNA Senior Class Officers:

 

Kyle Stratton, President

 

Why did you decide to run for class office?

I wanted to make our senior year one of the best years yet. We have a great class and they deserved a great year.

 

Why is serving important to you?

Serving is important to me because I like to be actively involved in what I’m taking part in. The best advice I’ve gotten is, “If you want something done, then do it yourself.”

 

What is the most difficult aspect of being a senior officer so far?

Trying to please as many people as possible is definitely the hardest part.

 

What are your responsibilities as a class officer?

I organize events and spirit activities, work with the other officers to design products for the class, and represent the class. We’ve taken on some new responsibilities around school as well.

 

What qualities make a good leader?

One of the most important qualities I believe to make a good leader is being able to work together and get things done. 

 

Katie Butczynski, Vice President

 

Why did you decide to run for class office?

I wanted to be involved with decisions made this year and be a competent voice for my class.

 

Why is serving important to you?

It’s important to me because it connects me with my class.

 

What is the most difficult aspect of being a senior officer so far?

I find that organizing class events is quite a challenge. 

 

What are your responsibilities as a class officer?

Helping to make informed decisions on activities throughout the school year.

 

What qualities make a good leader?

One of the most important qualities I believe to make a good leader is having confidence. 

 

What extracurriculars are you currently involved in?

I am involved in a variety of sports and clubs. Most notably I am a soccer and basketball player.

 

How do you balance your school work along with your officer duties?

I balance my school work along with my officer duties by using my free time wisely.

 

Maddy Grilz, Secretary

 

Why did you decide to run for class office?

I decided to run for office to try and make senior year more enjoyable and make positive changes.

 

Why is serving important to you?

Serving is important because not only can I help the senior class, but hopefully make differences for upcoming classes to follow.

 

What is the most difficult aspect of being a senior officer so far?

The most difficult aspect is being able to come up with an idea to satisfy everyone in the senior class.

 

What are your responsibilities as a class officer?

As secretary, I make sure meetings go smoothly and keep everything organized.

 

What qualities make a good leader?

Being able to communicate, compromise and being able to demonstrate time management are important qualities for a leader to have.

 

What extracurriculars are you currently involved in?

I’m involved in basketball, soccer, National Honor Society, and Yearbook committee. 

 

How do you balance your school work along with your officer duties?

I usually find free time during study halls or after school to organize and plan events.

 

Miranda Bohn, Treasurer

 

Why did you decide to run for class office?

I decided to run for class office because I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and make senior year the best year possible.

 

Why is serving important to you?

Serving is important to me because I am able to make a difference in the school for the year of 2018.

 

What is the most difficult aspect of being a senior officer so far?

The most difficult aspect so far is coming up with ideas to satisfy everyone in the class.

 

What are your responsibilities as a class officer?

My responsibility as class treasurer is to make sure all the money is accounted for when an order is collected.

 

What qualities make a good leader?

Communicating with everyone and keeping things organized.

 

What extracurriculars are you currently involved in?

I’m involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, yearbook committee, and softball. 

 

How do you balance your school work along with your officer duties?

I made sure I had a study hall in my schedule this year so I could help the other officers organize and schedule events.
