Amiah Lukowski – Track and Field
Greater Nanticoke Area sophomore Amiah Lukowski recently finished her successful 2016-2017 track and field season at Shippensburg University this past Friday, May 26th. She started to make her mark in her freshman year as she set a District 2 AA record in the 200 meter dash and qualified for states in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. After competing in the PIAA District 2 AAA Championship this year and leaving with three medals, Amiah went on to compete in the state tournament hosted at Shippensburg University to compete in the 200 meter dash and triple jump. All season long, Amiah was a force to be reckoned with and ran/ jumped her hardest in every competition.
Leaving districts with an unexpected first place medal and qualification for states in triple jump, jumping 37-foot-3.75”, Amiah went on to finish 11th in the state. One of her best decisions going into districts was her choice to not run the 400 meter dash and jump the triple jump instead, as she did so well in the event. Many people came to the meets all season to see her compete and watched in awe as she flew past her competition. At states, she competed and placed better than what she was originally seeded at which shows her hard work and dedication to the sport. She is looking forward to another successful season for the 2017-2018 school year, and hopes to continue excelling.
