Winter Olympics

On Wednesday, the 2018 Winter Olympics began and the US is working towards gold. This year the athletes are preforming in PyeongChang, South Korea. It is supposed to be the coldest Winter Olympics ever, as PyeongChang dropped below 5 degrees on Wednesday, and it was 9 degrees during the Opening Ceremony.

PyeongChang is located in northeast, South Korea. The construction for the XXIII Winter Olympic stadium was completed in September of last year. The Olympic stadium can hold 35,000 people in capacity. It was an amazing $78 million dollar construction for all of the arenas and stadiums for the winter games.

The events in the Olympics include alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, free style skiing, ice hockey, luge, nordic combined, short track speed skating, skeleton, ski jumping, snowboard, and speed skating. The games will be played February 9th to Sunday the 25th.
