This year for our marching band, we are losing several veterans to graduation. As a band, we are very proud of how far our seniors have come and are excited to see how far they will go.
I’ve decided that our seniors this year are well-deserving of a proper send-off for how hard they work and how much they’ve done over the years for our band.
Mateo Ricci
Mateo Ricci has been a member of the marching band for five years. He spent his first three years as a member of the drum line, playing the bass drum, but switched to the tenor saxophone and marched with it for the past two years. He’s enjoyed marching band because it has allowed him to grow and open up as a person. After graduation, Mateo plans to go to college in upstate New York and double major in Music Composition and Computer Science, also planning to take a minor in Painting and Drawing.
Keeth Beck
Keeth Beck has also been a member of the marching band for five years. He has been a member of our mallet percussion section since joining, playing the xylophone. He’s enjoyed participating in marching band, as it resonated with him more than other activities. After graduation, Keeth plans to attend SUNY in New Paltz, New York, and major in the arts to further his ability in drawing. He plans to use these skills to become a tattoo artist.
Maurice Smith
Maurice Smith has been a member of the marching band for three years. He’s played mallet percussion alongside Keeth Beck, playing the bells. He also participated in our concert band for six years. He’s enjoyed meeting new people throughout his time in the marching band. After graduation, he plans to go to college and study psychology, with hopes of participating in a collegiate marching band.
We appreciate the seniors for giving us their time, and we thank them for their contributions to our band.
