Even though we are a community with great pride, we are not perfect. As people, we all have our own dilemmas. One issue that is well-known is illegal and addictive substances.
You may have a friend or a person you know that has drug challenges. You yourself may have an addiction problem. If you do, there are many ways to help fix it.
If you have a drug problem, just remember the acronym, SAY NO TO DRUGS.
Silence is not the answer – Awareness is the key – You should think before you agree – Now is the time to say no – Once you have your grasp on it – Things will get worse – Once you feel the pleasure it gives – Drugs will take over – Run away while you can – Unhealthy things will happen to you – Go and live your life to the fullest – Stay away from drugs for the best.
You’re never alone in this fight. An addict in recovery would like to tell you, “We attend a 12-step program meeting on a regular basis, we have a sponsor who is also in recovery, we work the 12 steps which is the basis of the 12-step program, we have a home group which is a meeting we attend regularly and also do service work for like chairing the meeting or setting up for the meeting before other members get there, etc.
Those are the things an addict must do to recover from the disease of addiction to stay clean and abstinent from using drugs or any other mind or mood-altering chemicals.”
