Being the protagonist of My Hero Academia, it’s no question that Deku is certainly strong and faces adversaries much stronger than he is, however, he certainly puts up quite the fight and uses his clever thinking to secure multiple victories under his belt. When it comes to his move set, it mostly consists of different types of “smashes”, which all have different forms of attack depending on the situation. Using One For All and Full Cowling, and even mixing some of these smashes into one attack, Deku can use these powerful attacks to land major blows on enemies and most of the time finishing blows as well. With that being said, here’s all of Deku’s smash attacks in My Hero Academia up to the current anime point.
1.) Delaware Smash
This is a finger flick enhanced by One For All and later Full Cowling. The user charges One For All in any of their fingers and launches it however way they can. This flick delivers a massive gust of wind and force from the initial point and can be used to deflect attacks or long-range offenses.
2.) Detroit Smash
This is a punch enhanced by One For All and later Full Cowling. The user charges One For All in their arm or fist and throws a punch. This punch can smash through walls, create a massive air wave from the force itself, or deal a serious amount of damage to anyone who makes contact with the punch.
3.) Delaware-Detroit Smash
This is a finger flick and then an immediate punch enhanced by One For All and Full Cowling. The user charges a flick from any of their fingers and launches it, then the user immediately transfers the power from the fingers into the entire arm and delivers a punch. This is mainly used as a “Get Off Me Tool”, with the flick freeing the hands and the punch blowing them away.
4.) Shoot Style: St. Louis Smash
This is a kick enhanced by One For All and Full Cowling. The user charges One For All in both legs and performs a sideways kick. This kick leaves serious damage on anyone who gets kicked, destroys any walls, deflects incoming projectiles back at the adversary, launches a shockwave to deflect/negate attacks, and launches a shockwave as a long-range offense.
5.) Shoot Style: Manchester Smash
This is a kick enhanced by One For All and Full Cowling. The user charges One For All in both legs and puts an extra charge into a singular foot. The user then drops from above the enemy and slams their foot down into their head, kicking them straight down. This kick is used to blow holes in the floor, slam enemies into the ground leaving them incapable of moving, and launch projectile attacks downward.
6.) Delaware Smash: Air Force
This is a finger flick enhanced by One For All and Full Cowling. The user charges a Delaware Smash as normal but at the point of release, they put more charge into the tips of the finger, condensing the airwave attack into an almost bullet. This flick is used for destroying enemy projectiles, destroying multiple enemies with a massive wave of air bullets, chasing down adversaries attempting to run, or being used to propel the user forward with the force of the air.
7.) St. Louis Smash: Black Whip
This is a kick enhanced by One For All and Full Cowling. The user charges a St. Louis Smash and also charges Black Whip at the same time. The user then uses Black Whip to grab the enemy, launch themselves towards them, and deliver the St. Louis Smash. This is used to grab multiple falling projectiles and destroy them, grab an enemy and deliver serious damage to them, or swing and destroy numerous projectiles in the air that could be blocking a path.
8.) Detroit Smash: 45% Impact
This is a punch enhanced by One For All and Full Cowling. Similar to Delaware Smash: Air Force, the user charges a Detroit Smash and right at the point of impact releases only 45% of power in order to not cause damage to the user. This move has the same uses as a Detroit Smash simply with more condensed power and area of effect.
9.) Wyoming Smash
This is a downward elbow enhanced by One For All and Full Cowling. The user charges One For All in one or both elbows and slams down on the enemy’s neck or shoulder. This is used to leave adversaries incapable of moving, knock enemies out of the air, or temporarily stun enemies to capture/attack right after.
10.) Texas Smash
This is a punch enhanced by One For All and Full Cowling. The user charges as much as One For All as possible in their fist and launches a close-ranged punch. This is used to blow threatening damage to anyone it connects with or use the massive air gust wave to blow away enemies.
