For about 3 years now I’ve been a steady fan of Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen, following many fan pages and keeping up with official posts about it. Over the years, I’ve grown attached to numerous characters throughout the series, and for good reason too. While I like some for being straight-up cool in fights, some characters I’ve grown a liking to because of why they fight or their sub-stories. With that being said, here are 5 of my own personal favorite Jujutsu Kaisen characters in order.
5.) Megumi Fushiguro
When it comes to characters with overpowered abilities and using them in the best way, it’s Megumi Fushiguro. Megumi is the shikigami prodigy of the younger generation, and certainly a fan favorite for many good reasons. When it comes to why I personally like him, it’s his character development and the way he fights. First of all, while Megumi has always been the edgier member of the 1st year trio, he cared the most out of all of them for his teammates. Second of all, the way Megumi wants to get stronger is admirable, but the already fights with what he has available is what is impressive to me. Megumi’s fighting style is fun to watch whether it’s hand-to-hand combat mixed with shikigami attacks or opening his domain and laughing manically while he devours his opponent.
4.) Satoru Gojo
Gojo is everywhere but Jujutsu Kaisen right now so it’s no wonder he has an entire fanbase dedicated to his mere existence, and to be honest I kind of understand the hype. While some people are questionable and like him because he’s attractive, I like watching Gojo because of how colorful his techniques are, and how fast of a fighter Gojo is. From the unique instrumental to the colorful pictures that play during any one of Gojo’s Hollow Purple techniques, it’s very entertaining to watch. About his speed, however, he is by far the fastest jujutsu sorcerer that has been animated, and the high-speed combos that he lays down on enemies make you understand his strength.
3.) Toge Inumaki
Inumaki is a side character of Jujutsu Kaisen who doesn’t have much of a role in the latest stages of the manga, however, he was truly a valuable ally and a force to be reckoned with earlier on. Inumaki has the Cursed Speech technique, allowing any words he says to become reality. For example, one of my favorite moments is when he was falling from the sky after being teleported, opened up the zipper on his hoodie, and screamed, “Plummet.” This created a massive crater on Geto’s head and sunk him into the Earth. Inumaki’s technique leaves him vulnerable based on how powerful a word he used but it’s still so entertaining to watch Inumaki, a quiet and humble character, scream explosive words and completely turn the tide of fights. My all-time favorite moment though is when Inumaki backflipped to dodge light beam techniques, and during his last flip, he removed his zipper and yelled “Get Crushed,” leaving the curse completely dusted.
2.) Itadori Yuji
Itadori Yuji, the main character himself. It’s honestly impossible not to like watching Yuji in action or even his more human moments throughout the show. Being the main character, Itadori has been through numerous arcs, emotional events, training, and gruesome fights, all enhancing who he is as a person and how much value he displays on the battlefield. For example, Yuji went from a boy who could barely defeat a low-level curse without a weapon, to being able to land 8 consecutive Black Flashes on Sukuna. Mind you, Black Flashes are hard to land in general so Yuji mastering the technique throughout the series is more than impressive, not to mention crazy to watch. Yuji fights in such a dynamic way that you cheer for the combos he pulls, his tactical way of thinking when using his moveset, his determination to never back off from any fight, and his ambition to fulfill his destiny.
1.) Yuta Okkotsu
Yuta Okkotsu by far is my favorite character in Jujutsu Kaisen and that’s for so many reasons. First of all, he was the original protagonist of Jujustu Kaisen but was deemed too strong so Yuji was implemented, and to me, that just says a lot about how amazing he is. Second of all, he uses a katana, which is my personal favorite weapon. The mere sleekness of a kanata alongside the quick combos being pulled off with them is way too loveable. Third of all, his cursed technique, Copy, is so broken that it’s so fun to watch it in action. Seeing Yuta being able to copy any technique he’s seen and surprise even his enemy speaks for itself. Fourth of all, Yuta has a literal special grade cursed spirit named Rika assisting and following him at all times. If this dude wasn’t strong enough, the fact he can turn any fight into a 2 vs 1 is crazy. Yuta is literally the only character in Jujutsu Kaisen who hasn’t lost a genuine 1 on 1 because he jumps his enemy with Rika. And finally, his outfit is so simple but so sleek to me. The white collared shirt matching the white sneakers is a really nice design for such a complex character, and it adds to his initially timid nature.
