Being the one and only son of the prodigy Toji Fushiguro, Megumi has been a major side character in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe with his immense abilities and tactical thinking. While he isn’t a perfect-minded character, Megumi is far more practical, understanding, considerate, and logical than most of the cast we’ve been shown. From his Ten Shadows Technique being one of the strongest in the series to even his wise words to encourage his close friends like Itadori and Nobara, Megumi has left a staple on the Jujutsu Kaisen fanbase and fans absolutely love him. That being said, some of Megumi’s quotes are the reason some people see him to be such a deep and loveable character, so here’s some of the best I could find throughout his time-fighting in Jujutsu Kaisen.
1.) “But I Don’t Want To Let Him Die.”
Despite his “tough guy” façade, Megumi is actually a nice guy who knows how to read other people. That’s exactly why he said this to Satoru Gojo when discussing Itadori’s fate. He knew that, even if the prospect of awakening Sukuna was dangerous, he would try his hardest to let his new friend live at the same time.
2.) “If Only More Good People Could Receive Fairness. I’ll Save People Whether Or Not It’s Fair!”
Following his initial battle against Sukuna, Megumi keeps throwing around some of the most inspirational quotes in the series, stating how he’s determined to save as many people as he can, even if the world isn’t as fair as he wished.
3.) “It’s Not About Whether I Can. I Have To Do It.”
One of Megumi’s biggest challenges was to confront Sukuna after the antagonist swapped bodies with Itadori. This is what he said to the King of the Curses right before their battle, showing that even when facing danger, Megumi knows exactly what his responsibilities are.
4.) “I Will Become Stronger. I’ll Do Anything It Takes.”
This is a feeling that Megumi shares with his classmate & friend, Nobara Kugisaki, right after the apparent death of Yuji Itadori. And it’s impressive because it shows a brand-new dimension to his character. Moments like these are what make Megumi Fushiguro such a likable character because, even though he’s powerful, and he’s aware of it, he doesn’t let it go to his head.
5.) “With This Treasure, I Summon Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga!”
Many times during the course of the story, Megumi says the words “With this treasure…” in the middle of a battle, yet he was always interrupted. This built intrigue among the audience, who were eager to see which Shikigami was so powerful that Megumi felt like he needed to use it when fighting against the strongest of enemies. But the Shibuya Arc finally answered this question, and it did not disappoint. Mahoraga is Megumi’s strongest Shikigami, to the point that not even he can fully control it. When Megumi recites this long and incredible incantation, he’s not only summoning a mighty creature, but he’s using his final ability. He’s going to extremes and basically sacrificing himself in order to save the world.
6.) “Never Mind! Bring Forth The Deepest Shadows And Don’t Worry About The Exact Form For Now. Just Push It Forward From Your Cursed Energy. Here We Go! Domain Expansion!”
the characters in Jujutsu Kaisen have a collection of characteristic phrases that they repeat when using attacks in battle. And, as a user of the Ten Shadows Technique, Megumi has a lot of good ones. But his very first attempt to summon a Domain Expansion was one of the highlights of this character. When Megumi first fought a Finger Bearer curse, he couldn’t do anything to it. But he had been getting stronger ever since. So, when he fought another curse of this kind, he knew exactly how to exceed his limits and manifest an incomplete form of his Domain Expansion, known as Chimera Shadow Garden, in one of the series’ most amazing scenes.
7.) “I’ll Kill You If You Die Again!”
The threat of killing someone if they die again is hilarious at first, but there’s some depth to this quote. This threat just confirms how seriously Megumi feels about his friends. Even though he’s fully aware of how dangerous Jujutsu Society can be, he can’t help but grow attached to those who fight alongside him. So he’s not going to let them go easily, even if he’s a tad intense when saying it out loud.
8.) “We Aren’t Heroes Fighting For Justice. We’re Jujutsu Sorcerers. No One Can Ever Truly Judge Us, So We Must Continually Prove The Worth Of Our Existence. And We Don’t Have The Luxury Of Thinking About Ourselves. We’ve Just Got To Save People. I Believe That Was The Original Principle Of Your Actions. So Start By Saving Me Itadori.”
This is said to Yuji Itadori when Megumi is trying to get him to return to Jujutsu High after the events of the Shibuya Arc. But his friend feels extremely guilty because of everything that happened, including when Sukuna forced him to kill a lot of innocent people. And this long yet impressive quote encapsulates Megumi Fushiguro’s character perfectly. Despite his attitude, Megumi is a heroic sorcerer who wants to save everyone no matter what. However, he’s fully aware of how corrupt and unfair Jujutsu Society can be. They’re not heroes, and nobody can judge them if they fail to save people. But they also need to show how necessary they are for this society and to keep pushing forward, even if things get even worse.
