Aevidum, or “I’ve got your back,” has come to GNA.
A club centered around the free discussion of mental health, the program was started by students (not from GNA) who lost a classmate to suicide in a small school in Lancaster County.
Becoming a nationwide movement, spreading from this little school, Aevidum is a nonprofit organization that was started in 2003 by students of Cocalico High School.
The word ‘Aevidum’ was made up by these students, originally going by the name “A Helping Hand.” They switched over to the current name in 2007. Since becoming a nonprofit in 2010, they have been all over the US, presenting at national conferences and endorsed by mental health professionals, school staff of all kinds, and other students. They’ve also been recognized by Pennsylvania lawmakers and Washington DC, appearing on all forms of media and even having a feature on Good Morning America.
