Ant-Man and the Wasp

Today I will be doing a spoiler-free review of Ant-Man and the Wasp. This is the second movie in the Ant-Man trilogy and I think it was one of the most average movies so far. This movie mainly follows Scott (Ant-Man) dealing with the consequences of his past and that leads to him being on house arrest. Eventually, Hope (Wasp) and her father Hank come for Scott because they need help dealing with the Quantum Realm. I think all 3 of these characters were very good in this movie, but they’re main problem was that they didn’t have any other really interesting characters. Scott has his ex-prison friends that make some appearances throughout the movie and I didn’t care for them at all. Then one of Hank’s former coworkers Bill is also in the movie and he wasn’t interesting either. Scott’s daughter Cassie is in the movie slightly and she’s pretty good but doesn’t do much of anything.

The villain in the movie is a woman named Ava Starr but she goes by Ghost. She was solid throughout the movie but my main issue was that it didn’t feel like she was on screen that much. They didn’t give her much backstory and it just felt like the writers didn’t put much effort into her character. There are also some other small antagonists that are scattered throughout the film but no one is too important. The comedy was pretty good as usual with the Ant-Man movies. They could’ve pulled back on it a little bit but for the most part, I thought it wasn’t too overused.

I always rate the marvel movies and I rate them based on 10 things in the movie. Those things are: action, acting, cinematography, pacing, score, characters, ending, plot, protagonist, and antagonist. I rate all of those pieces 1-10 and then after that, I add up the scores of all 10 of them and get a total score out of 100. I gave this movie a 75/100, I think everything with Scott was very good and the action was very entertaining as well. I definitely think the acting could’ve been better at times but for the most part it was alright. Also, there is a big post-credit scene that sets up the next 2 Avengers movies for Ant-Man and the Wasp.
