Iron Man 3 spoiler-free review

Iron Man 3

Today I will be doing a spoiler-free review of Iron Man 3. Going into the movie I didn’t have overly high expectations, but boy was I wrong. I don’t really need to get into how Robert Downey Jr. killed it as Iron Man again. The action is absolutely amazing and perfectly done. The choreography of the action scenes were very well done, there wasn’t an over amount which made it more important, and the cinematography throughout the entire movie was great too. I also think Marvel produced one of the best action scenes throughout the franchise at Tony’s house near the ocean(you’ll know what I’m talking about when you get there). Now this movie still is far from perfect, so let’s get into what wasn’t good.

The villain is a man known as the Mandarin. Throughout the movie, the Mandarin is essentially trying to destroy Tony’s life. He starts succeeding and at one point Tony doesn’t even have a suit to rely on. The Mandarin also tries to destroy Tony’s personal life with his love interest throughout the franchise Pepper Potts. I thought that Mandarin was not a good villain and could’ve been but just wasn’t executed properly. Pepper does a solid job throughout the film and she wasn’t necessarily important until the end. The ending was very well done and executed with amazing action, cinematography, and pacing throughout the scene as well.

I always rate the marvel movies and I rate them based on 10 things in the movie. Those things are action, acting, cinematography, pacing, score, characters, ending, plot, protagonist, and antagonist. I rate all of those pieces 1-10 and then after that, I add up the scores of all 10 of them and get a total score out of 100. I gave this movie a 70/100 which falls just short of the first one but is above the second film. The only things that bring the score down for me is the acting sometimes is questionable (outside of RDJ), the pacing throughout the whole movie wasn’t great as there was kind of a dead spot towards the middle, and as I said before the antagonist was definitely below par.
