Top ten cover songs

My top ten favorite cover songs

These are my top ten cover songs of all time:

10. The Man Who Sold the World – Nirvana

This song was originally done by David Bowie. It is on nirvana’s MTV unplugged album released in 1994. For those who may be unaware, David Bowie inspired generations of music that we all know and love. He was very strange in his time but definitely one of the greatest artists of all time.

9. Stacey’s Mom – Bowling for Soup

Originally done by one-hit wonder band Fountains of Wayne, Bowling for Soup did an amazing job on this cover. The mix is great, the song has a great feel, and Bowling for Soup is a great pop-punk band. Bowling for Soup did the intro song to “Phineas and Ferb.”

8. Up & Down – Timmy Trumpet

Originally done by Vengaboys, this cover brings a new meaning to 90s dance music. It is old school techno with a twist. Vengaboys big songs are “We like to Party” and “Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!!”

7. Cat Scratch Fever – Pantera

A true classic by a guitar legend named Ted Nugent. Ted is considered crazy, and crazy good at the guitar. Most famous for his hit song “Stranglehold,” Ted had some phenomenal albums and live performances. Fun fact: Ted Nugent has one of the biggest hun collections in the world.

6.  Never Say Die – Megadeth

“Never Say Die” is off of Black Sabbath’s 8th studio album “Never Say Die!” Just when everyone thought the band was dying off this song came in. The Megadeth version is off of Megadeth’s cover album “So good, So Far, So what?” Check it out sometime, it’s amazing.

5. Changes – Moon Tooth

Yet another Black Sabbath song had made its way onto this list (it’s like I like that band or something). I have never heard anything quite like this cover. It feels so warm and full, and it’s acoustic! It gives it quite a different feel from the original version that was played on a piano.

4. Faith – Limp Biscuit

Everyone knows (or should know) the original version of this song by George Micheal. Now, this version sounds somewhat like the original version but it has the 2000’s metal twist. It gives it more of a raw and not so happy feeling.

3. FunkyTown/I feel Good – Lucky Chops

This is one of the coolest bands I know of. This brass band from NYC is something everyone can enjoy. From covers to originals, this band always surprises me when I listen to them. They are such great musicians and there are no words. All instrumentals.

2. Am I Evil – Metallica

No one knew of the European metal band Diamond Head until Metallica covered their song “Am I Evil.” This is one of the first metal songs I ever really heard. So it has a special place in my heart and had made it to number 2 on this list.

1. 99 Red Balloons – Goldfinger

This song has so much power behind it you can feel the emotion that the band is putting into it. From being a German pop song and then being turned into a punk song, this song is just amazing. The last verse is in German and that really just makes the song so much better. You just have to listen to it to experience it.
