Focus on what you can do – not on what you can’t
Schools all over the world have closed leaving students at home with nothing to do.
Here is a list of 5 things I have been doing during quarantine to pass the time:
- Read a book. I know you’re out of school and it’s not necessary to be doing work, but it is a good idea to help improve your mental health and maybe even help you become a better student and reader.
- Clean. If you were allowed out of the house, half of the time you never have enough time to clean. Maybe if times were different, you’d do the bare minimum of cleaning but since it is spring, now’s a good time to open the windows and deep clean the house.
- A board game. A nice little board game with loved ones could take your mind off the troubling times going on outside. If you don’t have games at home, maybe try a card game or a video game. And if you don’t have any of that, you can just make up a game.
- Social distance walks. Going on a walk with your family can be fun. If you go out, be sure to use safety precautions and stay away from parks and highly populated places.
- Learn new life skills. Find ways to make yourself better. Research how to play an instrument, how to cook, how to exercise, etc.
This won’t last forever! While stuck at home, however, focus on the things that you can do rather than the things you can’t!
