GNA blood drive 2020
GNA CAMPUS – On Friday, March 6th Greater Nanticoke Area will be holding a blood drive. The drive will run from 8:00 am – 12:45 pm in the high school gym. If any students are interested in donating blood, go to the nurse’s office to set up an appointment.
There are some donation tips for participants. It is suggested that one should get a good night’s sleep, drink lots of fluids, eat a full meal before donating, and eat a salty snack. In order to donate blood students must be 16 years old and have a photo ID. If students are 16 years old a letter of consent from a parent or guardian is required.
Donating blood has many different benefits on both the giving and receiving end. For the person donating, it helps boost the production of red blood cells, helps lower cholesterol levels and even warns the donor of any possible serious illnesses.
The Red Cross provides around 40% of the nation’s blood. Although that number might seem pretty large, the demand usually drains the supply. Every time there is a new donor, that means there can be another person helped.
Go sign up now! Help out everyone in need by making a difference and donating.
