Keystone graduation requirement decision
The Pennsylvania Department of Education delayed the Keystone Exam graduation requirement earlier this school year. In the 2019-2020 school year, the Pennsylvania Department of Education will decide if the graduation requirement will be delayed once more or if the tests will be a requirement of graduation.
As of now, no rules regarding the Keystones themselves have changed. The tests are still a way to assess growth and progress in students, teachers, and schools. The exams are relative to teaching and learning, according to the Core Curriculum standards.
Even though the exams are not required for graduation, it is still recommended students take it seriously, as scores reflect not only upon them but upon their schools, as well.
