Amplify your look for this prom season
The majority of junior and senior girls will be familiar with the struggle of picking out their dress, styling their hair, and finding that perfect makeup look for prom. With the semi-formal just three weeks away and prom season on the horizon, the pressure is on for finding that show-stopping eye look and the perfect shade of lipstick. Luckily, Gia Mazur from the Lifestyles Department of the Times-Tribune takes us through various tips and tricks in order to spruce up your prom makeup for the upcoming event.
Be extra for the camera: Mazur’s first tip is generally known across all ladies who are trying to score that perfect Instagram shot, be extra! Adding more foundation than usual, an extra swipe of mascara, or wear fake eyelashes. Don’t forget to apply eyeliner to your top lid, as well as your water-line to make your eyes extra noticeable.
Fill in your brows: We’re in the age where thick, full eyebrows are totally in. Mazur advises to shade in the center of your brows, as well as any other areas that require some shaping. As an easier option, utilize a tinted brow pomade to fill and shape them in seconds. Adding a subtle emphasis on your eyebrows frames you face and makes you look more put-together.
Lips and lashes, always: As the old quote goes, “the eyes are the windows to the soul,” so don’t skimp on anything that could draw attention to them; the same goes for your lips. Always have mascara and lipstick on the ready to touch up. Even if you don’t wish to go more dramatic, add a gloss or a slightly darker shade than the natural color of your lips to add a more polished look.
Be prepared: Finally, be prepared! Don’t forget to bring the essentials along in a small clutch or purse. Anything from extra bobby pins, lash glue, travel-sized hairspray, eyeliner, lipstick, and anything else you need to touch up throughout the night. This is just so you don’t have any fashion mishaps and always look picture perfect at this year’s prom.
