As we all know by now, technology has advanced in many positive and unique ways. One way is the ability to buy whatever you want while you are sitting on the couch or lying in bed. It beats driving in traffic, heading outside in the cold weather and looking at many stores instead of just one or two. It sounds like a dream world. Wrong! There are many things that can halt your holiday spending or regular online shopping. So maybe it is better to go to the store once in awhile to do your shopping after seeing these facts.

Each year millions of packages are delivered to the homes of family’s that bought them. The packages sit on the porch and wait to be collected or stolen. According to package guard, in 2017, an estimated 11 million packages were stolen after being delivered. The victims of the crime have to pay close to $200 to replace the items. That would total out to $2,200,000,000 wasted per year. That absurd number could be avoided and the money could still be in your pocket if you just went to the store.

You can get tricked into thinking that you are browsing on a secure website, but in reality, you could be on a fake site. If on one for a certain period of time; a scammer or hacker can get all your information. They can do whatever they want, which includes spending all your money. Make sure you are on a trusted website before shopping.

The item that you think you are about to buy may not be what you expect it to be. The size of the product may be smaller than you intended it was. The pictures could just be false and look nothing like the product that is being sold. There is a chance that the product that you buy might not even arrive at all.

Hidden fees are a pain when you don’t know about them. They could cost you extra money that you might not have. At a store, if you do not have the money you cannot buy it. Online shopping can create debt that could get out of hand very quickly.

Amazon has put forth an idea to bring your packages inside your own home. It would reduce the number of thefts that occur but if the wrong person enters your house, they can become the problem. They could wreck your home, get it all dirty and steal something if the people can’t be trusted.

Although shopping online can be dangerous, it doesn’t mean that you have to abandon it. If you make sure you are ready for the order to arrive and are aware that the website is secure. A nice walk or drive to the store is safe and good for everyone once in awhile.
