Mr. Fig’s class holds pumpkin seed and carving contest

The Halloween season is here! Mr. Fig’s class was given the challenge to make their best pumpkin seeds. Many of the students got creative and made some amazing flavors. The best pumpkin seeds were awarded to Zoe Gittens and Courtney Capie with their delicious “Caramel Roasted Pumpkin Seeds.” Isabella Quiles and Jamira Lane took home the bronze with their festive “Pumpkin Spiced” seeds. The runner-up was awarded to Abbey Marusak and Cameron Turak for their “Old Bay, Salt and Pepper” roasted pumpkin seeds!

Mr. Figs class also was involved in pumpkin carving contests. They had multiple categories such as: Most Creative, Best Craftsmanship, Spookiest, Halloween Spirit, Biggest Pumpkin Carved, Smallest Pumpkin Carved, Most Original, Tried But Failed, and Mia’s Favorite.

 

Most Creative- Veronica Penko and Kelsi O’Connor: Pumpkin made after rapper Lil Yachty 

 

Craftsmanship- Adriana Pezzella & Alexis Nadolny: Pumpkin made after ‘Oogie Boogie’ from Nightmare Before Christmas  

 

Spookiest- Shayne Shilanskis, Jonathan Simpson, Dustin Zumba, Steven Laity, Stephen Rudawski:  They used toothpicks as teeth in this scary carving! 

 

Halloween Spirit- Emily Cullen, Jenna Baron, Lauren Casey, Mikayla Sofchek.

Biggest Pumpkin Carved- Bishop Banaszek & Eric Meyers: This pumpkin was huge!


Smallest Pumpkin Carved-
Zoe Gittens & Courtney Capie: Nightmare before Christmas: lots of work put into that little guy! 

Most Original– Nate Penko, Dylan Tuthill, Zach Pelton, Keanu Ammons, Jahlil Troy-Gaddis: It was a pumpkin jail cell, holding a smaller pumpkin!

Tried But Failed– Brooke Donovan, Brandon Ellersick, Steven Robins, Matthew Sendejo: They tried to create a Minion, and then Brooke destroyed it!  They even tried to tape it back together.
