Power of Three is the third arc in the Warriors series. It’s about how three young cats learn about a prophecy that involves them having the power of stars in their paws; however, only two of the three cats have powers that they know about, and the one without powers tries to find out what her power is. I’m going to rank eight significant characters in the series on how much I enjoyed their character. Knowing that this is my own opinion, you can have your own on how much you enjoyed the characters from this arc.
8. Rock

Rock is a nearly furless tom with blind, gray eyes. Rock is an ancient healer from a time long before the Clans, when there were tribes of cats living around the lake. He appears immortal, having lost many of his senses and much of his fur due to age. In the time of the Ancients, Rock would mark the softpaws who succeeded their trial in the tunnels to become sharpclaws on a stick. He has the power to summon cats in dreams and has absolute knowledge of the past and future. Rock’s important events in the books are when he’s with Jaypaw. When Jaypaw, Lionpaw, Hollypaw, Breezepaw, and Heatherpaw save the three WindClan kits Sedgekit, Thistlekit, and Swallowkit, Rock marks on his stick that all of them will live despite the fact that the tunnels will flood. All of them survive and bring the kits back to WindClan. Jaypaw seeks out Rock and asks him about the Kin of your Kin prophecy. Rock gives him information he believes Jaypaw will need and tells him of the Ancients, sending Jaypaw back in time as Jay’s Wing to learn about them. Once Jayfeather finds out Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw aren’t his real parents, he asks Rock who his real parents are. Rock only tells Jayfeather to look elsewhere. Rock had more important events in the Omen of the Stars arc, but since this is only about character development in Power of Three, I’m not counting any of that here.
7. Breezepelt

Breezepelt is a lean black tom with amber eyes. As an apprentice, Breezepaw was increasingly arrogant due to feeling left out of his father’s attention. He would pick up fights whenever he could, and eventually thought Crowfeather hated him. His mother is fiercely protective of him and remains at his side when he almost dies at the daylight-Gathering, a stark difference from his fathe,r who constantly argues with his son. Breezepaw also develops a rivalry with Lionpaw over Heatherpaw’s feelings. Breezepaw teams up with Lionpaw, Hollypaw, Jaypaw, and Heatherpaw to rescue Sedgekit, Thistlekit, and Swallowkit from the flooding tunnels. Despite not wanting to, Onestar makes him and his father travel to the mountains to assist the Tribe. The two do not get along during the journey, and Hollypaw realizes Breezepaw’s anger must stem from his father’s lack of attention. He earns his warrior name, Breezepelt. Hollyleaf reveals at a Gathering that Crowfeather and Leafpool are her parents and Breezepelt snarls at his father in anger. Breezepelt developed a deep hatred toward Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather after it was revealed they were his half-siblings.
6. Heathertail

Heathertail is a lithe, light brown tabby she-cat with wide, smoky, heather-blue eyes, and sleek, soft, and thick fur. Heatherpaw is a WindClan apprentice with her mentor being Crowfeather. She befriends Breezepaw, a fellow apprentice. At a Gathering, Heatherpaw warms up to Lionpaw, a ThunderClan apprentice. They agree to meet in secret to play, and Heatherpaw discovers tunnels underneath their territory. They create DarkClan, an imaginary Clan, and pretend to be the leader and deputy with the names of Heatherstar and Lionclaw. Lionpaw breaks off their friendship because he wants to be a loyal warrior. However, Sedgekit, Thistlekit, and Swallowkit follow Heatherpaw into the tunnels and get lost. Together with Hollypaw, Jaypaw, and Breezepaw, the pair find the kits, and Heatherpaw agrees to stop meeting with Lionpaw. During a battle between the Clans, WindClan attacks from the tunnels, and Lionpaw accuses Heatherpaw of breaking their secret. She is horrified when he almost kills Crowfeather, and Lionpaw begins to dream of killing her, much to his horror. She earns her warrior name, Heathertail, and confronts Lionblaze when he sneaks into WindClan territory to gather catmint. She sternly allows him to pass and warns him about becoming like his thought-to-be grandfather Tigerstar.
5. Fallen Leaves

Fallen Leaves is a scrawny, sleek, ginger-and-white patched tom. He has green eyes, a white muzzle, and small paws. Fallen Leaves is a softpaw, preparing to take his assessment to become a sharpclaw. He must journey into the tunnels and find his way back to the moor, and Fallen Leaves denies the coming of rain to Rock, so his assessment is not delayed. The rain floods the tunnels, drowning the lost Fallen Leaves. Seasons into the future, Jaypaw has repeated dreams of his death, and Fallen Leaves appears as a spirit in the tunnels, assisting him in finding the missing WindClan kits, Sedgekit, Thistlekit, and Swallowkit. Though Hollypaw, Lionpaw, Heatherpaw, and Breezepaw accompany Jaypaw, only he can see Fallen Leaves. Jaypaw further seeks him out, meeting him in the tunnels, but declines to stay, leaving Fallen Leaves alone once again.
4. Lionblaze

Lionblaze is a golden tabby tom with amber eyes and thick fluff ringing and Brambleclaw, along with his two siblings, Hollykit and Jaykit. He is a strong-willed fighter who is apprenticed to Ashfur, becoming Lionpaw. As an apprentice, he grows very close to Heatherpaw of WindClan, often sneaking off to go meet with her. He also begins to train with Tigerstar and Hawkfrost, unaware that them being in the Dark Forest. After traveling to the mountains, Jaypaw informs him and Hollypaw that they are part of the Kin of your Kin prophecy and are destined to be more powerful than StarClan itself. Lionpaw’s power is to be undefeated in battle. Shortly after earning his warrior name, Lionblaze, a fire erupts in the ThunderClan camp, it is forced out by Ashfur that Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw are not his true parents. After hunting for clues, it turns out that his parents are Leafpool and Crowfeather, causing a strain on the family. Hollyleaf reveals the truth at a Gathering and vanishes into the tunnels. In their grief, he and Jayfeather realize that she is not one of the Three, and that the prophecy is predicting the Dark Forest’s rising.
3. Sol

Sol is a tall tortoiseshell-and-white tom with pale yellow eyes. Hollypaw discovers a “lion” on WindClan territory, but Sorreltail says it’s merely a cat. The cat’s name is Sol, and he asks to be taken to ThunderClan’s camp. He is very knowledgeable about Clan life, much to everyone’s surprise. He warns Leafpool and Jaypaw of a coming darkness, foreshadowing the eclipse. Jaypaw believes Sol knows something about the prophecy, but Sol decides to go to ShadowClan. After the eclipse, Sol manipulates Blackstar to revoke StarClan and the warrior code. ShadowClan lives scattered on its territory until Jaypaw, Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, Tigerpaw, Dawnpaw, and Flamepaw fake a sign from StarClan. Blackstar’s faith is reignited, and he exiles Sol. After Ashfur is killed, Hollyleaf admits she saw Sol a few days prior, and ThunderClan believes the rogue committed the murder. Brambleclaw, Birchfall, Brackenfur, Hazeltail, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf are sent to bring back Sol. They meet a group of loners in the Twolegplace who met Sol prior and are openly hostile about him. Jingo reveals Sol’s idea to get rid of the dogs and fails when one of their cats is killed in the process. They find Sol living with Purdy, and they bring both of them back to ThunderClan. He is kept as ThunderClan’s prisoner until Lionblaze helps him escape in exchange for information about the Kin prophecy and the identity of their father. Sol tries to manipulate the littermates to use their powers to take over the Clans, but they refuse.
2. Jayfeather

Jayfeather is a gray tabby tom with blind blue eyes. Jaykit is the son of Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight, along with his siblings Lionkit and Hollykit, and they are the grandkits of Firestar, the Clan leader. He is desperate to become a warrior apprentice despite his blindness and is frustrated when any cat fusses about him. He is apprenticed to Brightheart as Jaypaw, but dislikes it when her training methods are handicapped by his lack of sight. He discovers his special power to travel in cats’ dreams. When Spottedleaf visits his dreams to insist his destiny is to become a medicine cat, he argues with her and is determined to become a warrior. However, he eventually agrees and becomes Leafpool’s apprentice. Jaypaw discovers he and his littermates are destined to become powerful cats after walking in Firestar’s dreams. As a medicine cat apprentice, he is a natural healer with powerful visions, but is often impatient with his patients and argues with Leafpool frequently. He finds a stick and uses it to communicate with Fallen Leaves and Rock from the ancient cats. He visits them by living through Jay’s Wing, his previous incarnation. He meets Half Moon and guides the ancient cats to the mountains. He is given his full medicine cat name, Jayfeather, after helping his Clan during an outbreak of greencough. During a fire, Jayfeather and his littermates are trapped in the blaze. Squirrelflight tries to save them, but is prevented by Ashfu, who uses the opportunity to take revenge on Squirrelflight. In an attempt to save them, Squirrelflight reveals that the young tom and his siblings are not her kits. Jayfeather puts together fragmented memories from his kithood and help from Yellowfang to discover his true parents are Leafpool and Crowfeather of WindClan. He reveals the truth to Leafpoo,l who insists he move on. Hollyleaf reveals the truth at a Gathering, and Leafpool steps down, leaving Jayfeather as the only medicine cat. Though he is distraught when Hollyleaf supposedly dies in the tunnels, Jayfeather is ecstatic the prophecy will still be fulfilled through Whitewing’s newborn kits.
1. Hollyleaf

Hollyleaf is a slender, long-legged, black she-cat with soft and long fur. She has green eyes and a bushy tail. Hollykit is the daughter of Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw, along with her brothers Lionkit and Jaykit. She is shown to be curious and logical as a kit, and she initially becomes a medicine cat apprentice under Leafpool, taking the name of Hollypaw. During her apprenticeship, she befriends Willowpaw, the RiverClan medicine cat apprentice, but realizes she is not cut out to be a medicine cat. Hollypaw is then apprenticed to Brackenfur and becomes close friends with Cinderpaw. Hollypaw believes strongly in the warrior code and follows it very closely, disapproving of Lionpaw meeting the WindClan apprentice, Heatherpaw, in secret. Hollypaw and her siblings travel to the mountains to help the Tribe of Rushing Water fight off intruding rogues, and Jaypaw tells Lionpaw and Hollypaw of a prophecy involving them. Hollypaw stresses about the prophecy, wondering what her powers are and how they can be used to preserve the warrior code. She is the first to see Sol, whom she and her brother Jaypaw believe can help them with the prophecy. She is later named a warrior alongside Lionpaw and Cinderpaw, receiving the name Hollyleaf. After Sol convinces ShadowClan to stop believing in StarClan, Hollyleaf helps fake a sign from StarClan, but later becomes a real sign when StarClan cats appear. After a fire starts near ThunderClan’s camp, Squirrelflight, Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather are trapped; however, Ashfur blocks the way out and threatens to kill the siblings in revenge for Squirrelflight loving Brambleclaw instead of him. Squirrelflight reveals that Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather are not her kits, and Hollyleaf resents Squirrelflight for having lied. When it is discovered that her biological parents are Leafpool and Crowfeather, Hollyleaf is devastated. She is horrified when Ashfur threatens to tell the truth and murders him to keep him quiet. Wracked with grief, Hollyleaf reveals the secret at a Gathering. She then threatens to kill Leafpool with deathberries, but is convinced not to. Pursued by her brothers, she runs into the tunnels, which collapse behind her.
