Are you a creative thinker? Do you have a curious mind? Have you ever had an idea but didn’t know how to test it?
Well, how would you like to take your ideas and make them a reality? With the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS), you can.
According to Pennsylvania Academy of Science, “The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) is a statewide organization of junior and senior high school students designed to stimulate and promote interest in science among its members through the development of research projects and investigations.”
Science may be in the title, but that is not all that PJAS has to offer. There are 13 different categories to choose from, so there is a guaranteed topic that will spark your interest. You can do a project on almost anything you can think of! Of those 13 topics, you can choose from Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Behavioral Science, Earth and Space, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Ecology, or Engineering.
Whether you have little background knowledge of science or you are a scientific machine, PJAS has many opportunities waiting for you. Participating regularly in PJAS also comes with benefits. PJAS offers the opportunity to qualify for various scholarships and awards, expand your knowledge, improve presentation skills, and gain valuable experience for college and beyond.
If you are interested in participating in the regional competition of PJAS held at Wilkes University, or just want to learn more about the program, you can speak to Mr. Fleury (Room 118) or Ms. Bigos (Room 109) at the high school.
