Mothwing and Hawkfrost are both siblings; the daughter and son of Sasha, a rogue she-cat, and Tigerstar, former leader of ShadowClan. They had another sibling named Tadpole, but he drowned when they were young. Sasha brought her kits to RiverClan in hopes of them growing up to be warriors like their father, but she didn’t tell anyone who their father was. She kept their father’s identity a secret until she realized the Clans were leaving the forest and told them not to treat Mothwing and Hawkfrost like monsters because of who their father was. Sasha left her kits at the lake with RiverClan, but many problems were ahead…
Hawkfrost
Hawkfrost is a dark brown tabby tom with a snow-white underbelly and ice-blue eyes. When Hawkfrost was an apprentice, he had Leopardstar, the Clan leader, as his mentor, and turned out to be a natural warrior. Hawkfrost was willing to fight off any enemy and had high hopes to be deputy one day. After Mistyfoot went missing, Hawkfrost convinced Leopardstar that they needed a new deputy in case Mistyfoot didn’t come back. Leopardstar finally gave in and made Hawkfrost temporary deputy of RiverClan. Hawkfrost didn’t remain as deputy for long, though, because Mistyfoot came back after ThunderClan helped all the missing cats escape from the Twolegs. Yet, Hawkfrost was still ambitious.
On the journey to the lake, Hawkfrost talked with his half-brother Brambleclaw. Hawkfrost gained a heavy amount of trust from Brambleclaw, which was perfect for Hawkfrost’s plan. At the lake, Onewhisker and Mudclaw argue over who should be leader of WindClan. Mudclaw had been Tallstar’s deputy, but Firestar claimed that Tallstar had made Onewhisker deputy before he died. Hawkfrost manipulated Mudclaw into starting a rebellion and to win his leadership in WindClan. Hawkfrost promised that him and Mudclaw would be allies when him and Mudclaw became leaders. Mudclaw agrees and takes as many of his allies from WindClan and fights Onewhisker’s allies. When Mudclaw is trapped by Brambleclaw, Hawkfrost shows up. Mudclaw begs for Hawkfrost to help him, but Hawkfrost refuses. Mudclaw tries to tell Brambleclaw what Hawkfrost had told him, but Hawkfrost manipulates Brambleclaw not to believe Mudclaw. Brambleclaw and Hawkfrost flee, and Mudclaw is killed by a tree struck by lightning.
Hawkfrost takes his ambition further by training with Brambleclaw and Tigerstar in the Dark Forest. Tigerstar and Hawkfrost make plans without Brambleclaw, and Hawkfrost takes those plans into action. Hawkfrost sets up a fox trap for Firestar, and successfully catches him. Brambleclaw comes to see the ThunderClan leader stuck in the fox trap. Hawkfrost then tells Brambleclaw his plans to become leaders of all the Clans. He tells Brambleclaw to let Firestar die, and then Brambleclaw would be the leader of ThunderClan. Brambleclaw refuses and starts fighting with Hawkfrost. Brambleclaw frees Firestar and uses the sharp end of the fox trap to stab into Hawkfrost’s neck. Before Hawkfrost dies, he tells Brambleclaw that a ThunderClan warrior helped him with his plan and that this battle isn’t over.
Hawkfrost went to the Dark Forest like his father and started training Ivypool, Blossomfall, and Breezepelt for the Great Battle. When the battle came, Hawkfrost met with Brambleclaw again. Hawkfrost tries to finish Brambleclaw off, but ends up being killed by Brambleclaw once again and disappears forever.
Mothwing
Mothwing is a dappled golden tabby she-cat with amber eyes. Mothwing is the current medicine cat of RiverClan. At first, Mothwing trained with Mistyfoot to be a warrior, but Mothwing decided that she wanted to be a medicine cat. Mudfur, the medicine cat at the time, insisted that he needed a sign from StarClan to make her his apprentice. Mothwing told Hawkfrost, and Hawkfrost faked a sign by leaving a moth at the entrance to the medicine cat den. Mudfur believed the sign, and Mothwing became a medicine cat apprentice.
Mothwing meets Leafpaw at the Moonstone, and becomes friends with the ThunderClan medicine cat apprentice. Mothwing slept beside the Moonstone and lied to Leafpaw that seeing StarClan was amazing. Mothwing meets with Leafpaw again when Reedpaw almost drowns. Mothwing stands there frozen while Leafpaw helps Reedpaw. Mothwing thanks Leafpaw, but doubts herself as a medicine cat since she had no idea how to heal Reedpaw.
Mothwing continues to try her best as a medicine cat even though she doesn’t believe in StarClan. She tries everything she can to try and save Mudfur from his death, but he ends up dying anyways. Mothwing grieves for her former mentor and knows that she’ll have to continue as a medicine cat until she too dies. Mothwing makes the journey to the lake and is horrified by her brother’s actions. Her brother kept trying to manipulate her, but Mothwing tries to focus on her duties. She feels relieved when she finds out Hawkfrost is dead, but still mourns for her brother. Mothwing was then free of her brother and continued to live on as a medicine cat.
