What are your hobbies outside of school?
I enjoy gardening, music, and starting home projects that I tend not to finish.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I’m naturally a night owl! Waking up when it is still dark outside is so unnatural for me
If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be? Why?
David Bowie. He was iconic on so many different levels and I regret not seeing him perform live before his death.
What is your favorite band – or – who is your favorite singer?
Grateful Dead for life!
What is your favorite song of all time?
I don’t think true music lovers can answer this question.
What is your favorite place to eat?
I’m currently obsessed with vegetarian pho from Pho Saigon in the Poconos! You should try it!
What is the most unique place you’ve ever visited? Why?
Bishop’s Castle in Colorado is full of history, art, rugged craftsmanship, and innovation.
Do you have any pets? If so, what are they?
We have 5 amazing cats, an American Bulldog that loves us but doesn’t like strangers or bad vibes, and a small flock of chickens.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
Laziness!
What inspired you to become a History teacher?
My history-loving, social justice personality started as a child.
I grew up in a home that appreciated history, visited historical sites, and was knowledgeable on current events.
What do you like most about teaching?
The best part is our students, of course!
What is your biggest piece of advice for students?
Keep your eyes, ears, and mind open! The world is quickly changing and we must make sure we are aware, seeking the truth, and making choices that best serves our moral compass.
How long have you been teaching?
This is my 20th year working in public education.
Why did you start teaching AP Courses such as Apush and AP government and why do you think they are important?
When academic expectations are set high, our school flourishes. AP courses are incredibly difficult to navigate but our students at GNA deserve the best that we can offer.
