What are your hobbies outside of school?
I like to bake desserts and read fiction. In the summer, I like to swim almost every day.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I have a twin sister.
If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would want to meet my grandmother on my Mom’s side. She passed away before I was born, and my Mom has lots of questions for her about our family history. I would like to get answers to those questions for her.
What is your favorite band – or – who is your favorite singer?
Classically, I like Billy Joel. A more modern singer I like is Ed Sheeran.
What is your favorite song of all time?
Piano Man.
What is your favorite place to eat?
I like all Asian food. My favorite restaurant lately is the Ramen restaurant called Kinya, near Walmart in Wilkes-Barre.
What is the most unique place you’ve ever visited? Why?
The most unique place that I’ve visited is Promontory Point, Utah. This is where the transcontinental railroad was completed. One railroad company started laying tracks in the west, and the other in the east. They met at this point in 1869, connecting the west coast with the east coast.
Do you have any pets? If so, what are they?
I do not have any pets, but my kids really want a dog or cat.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
I do not like when people leave shopping carts in the middle of the parking lot.
What inspired you to become a Chemistry teacher?
I was in graduate school and was a teaching assistant for a freshman-level chemistry course during the summer after my first year. The students were fantastic and really tried to learn and understand the material. They motivated me to teach them the best way possible.
What do you like most about teaching?
I like interacting with the students and getting them interested in any aspect of science.
What is your biggest piece of advice for students?
Try your best at anything you attempt. You never know what you can accomplish.
How long have you been teaching?
I am in my 2nd year of teaching high school, but I taught at the college level in graduate school and professionally for over 25 years.
