Spottedleaf is a dark tortoiseshell-and-white she-cat with amber eyes. She was the medicine cat under Bluestar’s leadership in the forest territories. She gave Bluestar the famous “Fire alone will save our Clan” prophecy from StarClan. Originally, she was Thrushpelt’s apprentice when she trained as a warrior but then switched to Featherwhisker’s apprentice when she decided to become a medicine cat. She was killed by Clawface when ShadowClan attacked the ThunderClan camp and then was killed as a spirit by Mapleshade in the Great Battle, fading away forever. This is about Spottedleaf; the she-cat who loves foolishly.

Spottedleaf in The Prophecies Begin

Spottedleaf is the ThunderClan medicine cat who, after a failed battle with RiverClan, gives Bluestar a prophecy: “Fire alone will save our Clan.” Bluestar doubts fire will save ThunderClan because fire destroys everything, but she tells Spottedleaf that she hasn’t ever let her down yet and believes that fire will save the Clan. Not long after, Bluestar finds the apprentice Graypaw fighting with a flame-colored kittypet. Spottedleaf is friendly with Firepaw when he officially becomes a ThunderClan apprentice. Firepaw visits Spottedleaf whenever he can and the two develop feelings for each other, but none of them say a word. When Clawface raids ThunderClan to steal Frostfur’s kits, Spottedleaf tries to stop him but she ends up dying instead; breaking Firepaw’s heart. Spottedleaf visits the dreams of the newly named Fireheart, giving him prophecies and warnings. When Fireheart goes to the Moonstone to receive his nine lives, Spottedleaf is one of the cats who gives him a life. She gives Firestar a life for love, especially for Sandstorm. Firestar realizes they’ll never have a life together and chooses Sandstorm as his mate instead.

Spottedleaf in The New Prophecy

Spottedleaf continued to visit ThunderClan cats in their dreams, particularly Firestar’s daughter Leafpaw. She helped Leafpaw heal Reedpaw when he almost drowned and Mothwing, the RiverClan medicine cat, didn’t know what to do. When Leafpaw and the other Clan cats are trapped in cages by Twolegs, Spottedleaf appears in the dream of Firestar’s other daughter Squirrelpaw to lead her to them. When the Clans finished the Great Journey, Spottedleaf led Leafpaw to the Moonpool, earning the young medicine cat apprentice her medicine cat name Leafpool. Spottedleaf helped Leafpool when she was conflicted with her feelings for the WindClan warrior Crowfeather. She told Leafpool to follow her heart and Leafpool decides to leave the Clans with Crowfeather, but came back when they were told of the badger attack.

Spottedleaf in Power of Three

Spottedleaf spoke with Firestar’s grandson Jaypaw. When Jaypaw wanders into the Dark Forest, Spottedleaf defends him from Tigerstar and Hawkfrost and leads him back to StarClan, telling him that he must become a medicine cat.  In StarClan, she deliberates, along with Bluestar and Yellowfang, about the nature of the Kin of your Kin prophecy and what StarClan’s role in it should be, if they should meddle at all. When the truth is revealed about Jayfeather and his littermates’ parents being Leafpool and Crowfeather, Jayfeather seeks out Spottedleaf accusingly, but the dead medicine cat affirms that StarClan cats do not know everything.

Spottedleaf in Omen of the Stars

Spottedleaf became concerned about the prophecy after Hollyleaf was confirmed not to be the Third cat. She accompanied Jayfeather and Yellowfang into the Dark Forest after it is suspected that the Dark Forest cats are training Clan cats. During the Great Battle, Spottedleaf saved Sandstorm from being killed by Mapleshade, but her own spirit was killed, which devastated Firestar.

Spottedleaf in Bluestar’s Prophecy

Spottedkit is born to Adderfang and Swiftbreeze along with her littermates Willowkit and Redkit. She was first apprenticed to Thrushpelt, but she became Featherwhisker’s apprentice after Goosefeather retired. When Bluefur gives birth, she assists Featherwhisker. She becomes ThunderClan’s medicine cat after Featherwhisker dies of greencough.

Spottedleaf in Firestar’s Quest

Spottedleaf taught Firestar all she knew about SkyClan. She later appeared with burdock root to give to Firestar and Sandstorm after the rat attack. Spottedleaf appeared when Firestar accidentally revealed to Sandstorm about his previous visit by Spottedleaf, which makes Sandstorm uncomfortable and hurt. She comforts Sandstorm, saying that she and Firestar could never have been mates, and before she leaves, she whispers to Firestar’s ear, wishing things could have been different. At Leafstar’s leadership ceremony, Spottedleaf gave her a life for healing wounds caused by words and rivalry.

Spottedleaf in Spottedleaf’s Heart

Spottedkit wants to become a warrior along with her littermates. As an apprentice, Thistleclaw takes advantage of her trust, and the two become close. Spottedpaw thinks they can become mates when she is a warrior. However, she finds out that Thistleclaw was training in the Dark Forest and trying to get her to join him. Spottedpaw is horrified and decides to become a medicine cat so that Thistleclaw can no longer pursue her.
