Poetry
First, let’s start with poetry and its meaning – poetry is a form of literature expressing emotion and describing a scene that conveys thought. It can be arranged carefully for its meaning, sound, and rhythm.
Poems don’t need to rhyme. They don’t have to fit any specific format, and they don’t have to use any specific vocabulary or have a specific topic. They need to use words artistically by employing figurative language- poems are pieces of writing in which the words are chosen for their beauty and sound and are carefully arranged, often in short lines that rhyme.
Poetry Day- When did it come about?
Poetry goes back to beginning in Mesopotamia around 5000 BC and was most likely used in ancient rituals or for storytelling purposes. We have evidence of the creation of elaboration like carvings, paintings, and tools.
UNESCO first adopted 21 March as World Poetry Day during its 30 General Conference in Paris in 1999. Still, National Poetry Day was founded in 1994 by William Sieghart, who claimed ‘there are millions of talented poets out there and thought there should be recognition.
