WVIA EDUCATION – GREAT TEACHERS ESSAY CONTEST

Tell us about your favorite teacher.

The winning student will receive a $500 scholarship and the winning teacher will have their story posted on wvia.org.

Open to all students grades 9-12 at Enhanced Scholar Program Schools.

Essays must be submitted as a PDF via email to Alissa Swarts, Director of Education [email protected]

Essays must be at least 250 words, and no more than 1000 words. Essays will be evaluated by WVIA Education staff on grammar, spelling, and storytelling.

The submission deadline is March 1st.

Winners will be announced on April 5th.

My name is Keeth Beck, and I am a junior at the Greater Nanticoke Area High School. I have been attending GNA since kindergarten, and I have taken on a few programs over the years. I am in our school’s Jazz, Concert, and Marching Band, and as of last year, I am a member of the National Honor Society. I also enjoy theater and have recently become active in our school's theater program. This is my first year in journalism, and I look forward to writing more in my senior year! When I am not at school or hanging out with my friends, I am usually at home cooking, drawing, playing guitar, or practicing piano. I also enjoy playing video games in my spare time, especially with others.  I have always enjoyed the arts, so I'd love to attend an arts college in the future to pursue it as a career. I have a few colleges in mind, such as Marywood University or the School of Visual Arts in New York. I look forward to the future, and I'm excited to see what it has in store for me and my peers!
