National Handwriting Day is celebrated on January 23rd and inspires others to use any writing utensil to write out their thoughts.
It doesn’t take forever to take time out to write how you feel or what’s on your mind. In the form of days now, it goes on from writing letters with ink to emailing online or just texting. Communication is an important thing.
History
National Handwriting Day was started by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association in 1977 to promote the consumption of pens, pencils, and writing paper. January 23rd was chosen because it is the birthday of John Hancock. John Hancock was the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence.
How to involve yourself on this day:
-Start a journal
-Send a handwritten letter to a friend or family member
-Write a short story or poem
-Write a to-do list
-Leave a love note/letter to someone who means a lot to you
-Compliment someone with a handwritten sticky note
-Leave your server a tip and a handwritten word of thanks for their service
You can do any of this at any time. Even to improve your handwriting, it takes practice. Practice writing lists, letters, and a journal of poetry. Write every day, you will see an improvement in your handwriting!
