GNA CAMPUS — In the fall of 2023, Miss Hyder gave each student in her class a leaf to write what they’re thankful for. The leaves were eventually put together a few days later as a massive gratitude tree. The GNA Insider asked Miss Hyder some questions about this tree.
What’s the purpose of the Gratitude tree?
We wanted to work on the morale of the building by showing what we are grateful for, instead of complaining about what is wrong or what we don’t have or don’t like.
Why did you start doing the Gratitude Tree?
I started it a few years ago with a different club to do the same thing–I think remembering that you have good things helps improve your outlook on life
How many years has the Gratitude Tree been put up?
This is only the second year! It’s our first year with Key Club, and I did it once before with a secret club with a similar purpose.
What was the most common thing to be put on a leaf for the Gratitude Tree?
OMG–Fortnite. If I saw one more Fortnite…
What’s your favorite part about doing the Gratitude Tree?
I love it when students write their teachers’ names on the leaves. This is a hard job and it’s nice to see teachers are appreciated!
