Dave went on to a solo project which went on to become the Foo Fighters.
Green Day, along with a few other bands, are the face of Punk rock. The band was founded in the East Bay of California in 1987 by lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and back singer Mike Dirnt. Some of their most popular songs include “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams,” “Good Riddance,” and “Holiday,” “Basket Case,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” “Brain Stew” and many others. They have announced and confirmed that they will be going on tour next year. The band has been nominated for 20 Grammy awards and won 5, their first one being in 1994.
The Cure is another example of a band of multiple genres, they were the first post-punk band, they often are mistaken for being goth due to their dark tone. “When people say it to me, you’re goth, I say you either have never heard us play or you have no idea what goth is. One of those two has to be true because we’re not a goth band.” “I remember just for a while, goths were outraged that people would think we’re a goth band.” is how they responded to being mistaken for the wrong genre. Some of their most popular songs include “Just Like Heaven,“ “Pictures Of You,“ “Let’s Go to Bed,“ “Lovesong,“ “Friday I’m in Love,“ and “The Lovecats.“ They won “Brit Award for British Group” in 1991, “Brit Award for British Award of The Year” in 1990, “NME Award – Godlike Genius Award” in 2009, and many others.
