Chriselda Sedorchuk, Student Writer
My name is Chriselda Sedorchuk, and I am currently a senior at GNA. I've been attending GNA my whole life. This is my first year in the journalism program. I currently work in an ice cream shop. I've participated in chorus throughout elementary and middle school, and I also played softball in middle school. I spend a lot of time taking photos to capture and remember the memories I make.
In my free time, I like to read, watch movies, and play video games when I get the chance. My favorite movie series is The Hunger Games. My favorite music artists are Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Olivia Rodrigo. I am also a Marvel and DC fan. I would love to travel the world one day and photograph all the beautiful scenery. I would love to visit France or Italy.
At this time, I am stuck on two very different future jobs. I would like to go into the trades for welding, but my other choice would be to go to college to get a bachelor's degree in criminal justice so I can become a detective. I hope I get the chance to live close to a beach one day.
Coraliz Garcia, Student Writer
My name is Coraliz Garcia, I am a Junior here at Greater Nanticoke Area High School, and this is my second year in journalism. I like to keep myself busy, so speaking about that, I've joined many clubs and activities in our school like Key Club, Art Club, Drama Club, FBLA club, Chorus, Aevidum, and Student Council!
Some of my hobbies are playing online games, drawing, and writing. Music helps me a lot regardless of what I am doing; it helps me keep my focus, and will always be my go-to option. I am currently doing DE (Duel Enrollment) Cyber and taking a psychology course for this Fall 2024 semester. I work at a restaurant as a host/hostess and enjoy the environment I work in! I see myself as outgoing but I don’t let anything or anyone get in my way because I have a future to fulfill and you only live once so, why let the little things bother you?
I plan to go to LCCC after high school for 2 years and attend a 4-year college afterward. I have always been interested in psychology and helping people solve their problems, so I would love to be a psychologist after college, but if that doesn't work out, I know I have time to figure out what I want. No one can achieve something so quickly but as long as you put your mind to it, you can achieve your goals and aspirations- everything is a process and will take time.
Mackenzie Hall, Student Writer
My name is Mackenzie Hall, I am currently a senior at Greater Nanticoke Area High School, and this is my first year in journalism. Throughout my high school career, I have been a part of the National Honors Society, World Language Honors Society, and Student Council, have competed in Pennsylvania’s Junior Academy of Science three times and started a nonprofit called the Wizards of Wonder through the Junior Leadership program. Currently, I am Student Council President and am balancing four AP classes with my various other responsibilities at school and home along with my personal relations.
I would have to say that some of my greatest passions lie in literature, whether that involves reading a classic novel or writing poetry. I also spend my time cooking new recipes, painting with oil pastels, and making good memories with those that I love. I enjoy topics such as gender studies, political science, and psychology; however, I have always had a great love for the STEM field as well, and have worked to ensure that my time in school engages that interest.
I am in the process of applying to college through the QuestBridge program with intentions of majoring in Biology with a possible minor in Neuroscience or Psychology. I aspire to become a Pediatric Neurosurgeon, though with a mind that appreciates many possibilities, I could see myself pursuing a career related to law or global affairs. No matter what happens, I highly look forward to seeing how my future plays out.
Keira Allabaugh, Student Writer
My name is Keira Allabaugh, and I am a sophomore at Greater Nanticoke Area High School. This is my first year as a student writer for journalism.
This is my second year at GNA High School. I used to live in Kingston and went to Wyoming Valley West until 8th grade. Some of my interests and hobbies would be quading, writing, playing guitar and ukulele, and riding my bike. I play soccer and I love the teamwork it requires.
I am excited to see what 2023-2024 has in store for me this year because every year is a new opportunity to make better choices and make the best out of life! After high school, I plan to go to LCCC to become an RN.
