Today I will be doing a spoiler-free review of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. This, in my opinion, is the best Star Wars movie of all time, and one of my personal favorite movies I’ve ever seen as well. Just the story of Anakin Skywalker’s downfall and his rise back up as Darth Vader is such an incredible thing to watch. The characters in this movie really shine well with Obi-Wan Kenobi easily being the best in the film. His character is the purest Jedi and even when everything is going horribly wrong at the end, he never loses himself. Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan is truly one of the best castings for a character EVER. Yoda and Mace Windu are great side characters in this movie too leading the Jedi throughout the film. Padme was still a great love interest and Natalie Portman played her throughout this trilogy very well too. The plot and pacing is what truly makes this movie incredible though. Anakin and Obi-Wan are both what makes this movie as special as it is. The chemistry between the two is amazing and there are some great fight scenes in the entire movie but nothing compares to the one at the end. Absolutely, the best fight scene in the entire franchise, the final fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan is just perfection. The dialogue between the two is amazing with some of the best lines ever being delivered.
The villain of this movie is mainly Darth Sidious with Count Dooku slightly being in it along with General Grievous. Grievous is a Jedi hunter droid who can wield 4 lightsabers. However, Sidious is the main villain and he is very well-written and is one of the most pure evil villains ever. The whole story of him taking over and manipulating everyone in his path to get where he wants is so well done. The fight scenes in this movie are second to none as well. There are multiple great ones that include Mace Windu fighting Darth Sidious which is fantastic and sets up the most important part of the entire movie. Yoda then later fights Sidious which is probably a better pure fight and the choreography for it was perfect. Anakin and Obi-Wan fighting Count Dooku was very cool too and the ending of that fight also has a big impact on the rest of the movie. However, the obvious best one is what I mentioned before in the final fight scene between Anakin and Obi-Wan. Absolutely amazing dialogue from both, insane choreography, beautiful cinematography, and some of the best acting in the entire franchise from Ewan Mcgregor. It was just perfect and couldn’t have been delivered any better.
I always rate the Star Wars movies and shows and I rate them based on 10 things in the movie. Those things are action, acting, cinematography, pacing, score, characters, ending, plot, protagonist, and antagonist. I rate all of those pieces 1-10 and then after that, I add up the scores of all 10 of them and get a total score out of 100. I gave this movie a 98/100 and that’s mostly just because I don’t like giving out a pure 100 but also the pacing could’ve been slightly better. That is my only “gripe” with this movie if you even want to call it that because I still think the pacing is good. Like I’ve said, as perfect of a movie as you can get for me, and easily the best Star Wars movie of all time for me.
