Getting to know the 2022-2023 Sophomore class officers

2022-2023 Sophomore class officers.

President – Ryan Simcox 

Why did you decide to run for class office? 

– I wanted to be able to represent my class and be a leader. I wanted to make connections with people and this was a good opportunity to do so. 

What qualities make a good leader? 

– I think one of the most important qualities of a leader is responsibility. Leaders typically have lots of duties and lots of people depend on them. Efficiency is another one that’s important because leaders have to take charge and get things done. Respect is also an important quality; A good leader should have respect for all. 

Why is serving important to you? 

– Serving is important to me because someone has to step forward and get things done. Not as much this year, but the junior class officers have lots of responsibilities such as organizing prom which I’m sure most of us are looking forward to. Serving is also important to me because I want to try to be a great role model. 

What are your responsibilities as a class officer? 

-As class president, I’m responsible for raising money and organizing events that provide good experiences for my class. 

How do you balance your schoolwork and hobbies with your officer duties? 

– In all honesty, there are not too many officer duties, at least not this year. But what I try to do is get all of my schoolwork done in school, so that out of school I have all the time I need to work on anything that needs to be done. 

What extracurricular activities are you involved in? 

I am involved in multiple sports such as soccer, cross country, and track and field. 

Vice President – Alex O’Looney 

Why did you decide to run for class office? 

– To help my class with what they need. 

What qualities make a good leader? 

– A good leader has confidence 

Why is serving important to you? 

Serving is important to me because I want to make sure my fellow classmates have a good high school experience. 

What are your responsibilities as a class officer? 

– My responsibilities as a class officer involve being there to help my classmates. 

How do you balance your schoolwork and hobbies with your officer duties? 

– I always put my schoolwork first and everything else comes after. 

What extracurricular activities are you involved in? 

– I’m involved in soccer and track. I also help my church with live streaming. 

 

 

Secretary – Cassidy Roke

 

Why did you decide to run for class office? 

– I ran for class office because I thought I could have a positive impact and make our years at GNA better. 

What qualities make a good leader? 

– Some qualities that make a good leader are that I am responsible and live up to my commitments. 

Why is serving important to you? 

– Serving is important to me because I care about my class and our school. 

What are some of your responsibilities as a class officer? 

– Some of my responsibilities as class officer include helping with fundraisers and events such as the class ring ceremony. 

How do you balance your schoolwork and hobbies with your officer duties? 

– I balance them by carefully setting time aside for each responsibility and not waiting until the last minute to work on things.

Treasurer – Noah Stachyra

What extracurricular activities are you involved in? 

– I am involved in the art club and the track team. 

 

Why did you decide to run for class office?

I desired the ability to better my school, but helping in any way I could. I decided running for Class Treasurer was the best way to fulfill said goal.

 

What qualities make a good leader?

I think good leaders should have integrity, self-awareness, courage, respect, empathy, and gratitude. They should communicate well with others and should take up and take hold of situations when the time is right.

 

Why is serving important to you?

Serving is important to me because I get the ability to better my school through serving; I am surrounded by so many kind, incredible individuals that support me and my goals.

 

What are your responsibilities as a class officer?

I have responsibilities such as fundraising for the sophomore class, holding parking spots for senior night football 

games, and helping out during ceremonies like Honor Society initiation.

 

How do you balance your schoolwork and hobbies with your officer duties?

I have been fortunate enough to not have my schoolwork, hobbies, and officer’s duties overlap and cross each other. I am luckily able to balance school and personal lives without too much difficulty.

 

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?

I indulge in sports such as Soccer, Swimming, and Track & Field. Though I am not an official member of the art club I do occasionally help them paint and move art supplies around the school.
