Junior Leadership Northeast
GNA CAMPUS – Attention all Sophomores; it’s time to apply now for Junior Leadership Northeast. Junior Leadership Northeast helps students develop leadership skills and encourages students to interact with community leaders, decision-makers, and students from other schools.
Junior Leadership helps develop students into leaders. It creates challenges that allow leaders to apply their new knowledge and skills to community impact projects. It acquaints high school students with community needs and resources which influence the future of Northeastern PA and beyond.
The mission of Leadership Northeast is to develop informed and committed leaders from all segments of the community who will serve, strengthen and improve Northeastern PA.
Junior Leadership allows students to explore their potential, widen their sphere of influence, engage in authentic relationships with other leaders, and ultimately impact the quality of life in our region. Students from all public, Parochial charter, and private schools in Northeast PA who will be entering their junior year in the fall of 2023 are eligible. This is a 9-month commitment that requires your time at programs as well as your time at project team meetings. Participation in the project IS a graduation requirement and will be monitored throughout the year.
The criteria needed to apply is to complete a typed application received by the deadline. You have to have an expressed interest in understanding and serving the community, enthusiasm and commitment to participate in the program, and also demonstrate our potential leadership ability.
The process of the application uses the criteria, the JLNE Selection Committee will review and score the first 20 completed applications received from each school. Written application finalists will be invited to a group interview with the JLNE Selection Committee on May 3, 2023. Scores from written applications (50 points) and group interviews (50 points) are totaled. Highest scores (out of 100 points) earn acceptance. All applicants will be notified in writing of the Selection Committee’s decision by May,19,2023.
All applications must be typed and a writable PDF can be found at https://leadershipnortheast.org/. All answers and essays are required to be on the application form and note that the essays are heavily weighted by the Selection Committee. Now all you have to do is complete the application and submit it with a 20$ fee, also submit two Student Leadership Assessments. The Application deadline is March,10th, 2023, only the first 20 completed applications received from each school by the established deadline will be eligible for consideration.
