Marvel Reviews: Part 15
Spoiler-free review of Captain America: Civil War
Today I will be doing a spoiler-free review of Captain America: Civil War. I think it is safe to say that every Captain America movie is very, very good. This movie gets your attention right away with the cast and lineup it features. There is Captain America, Iron Man, The Falcon, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Ant-Man, Wanda Maximoff, Vision, War Machine, and two newly added characters. The last time most of these characters were seen was in the last Avengers movie and since then the government has wanted to put a limit on superhero’s actions as a lot of the Avengers actions have led to collateral damage. Surprisingly enough Iron Man supports this and thinks the government should go through with it while Captain America is on the other side and thinks superheroes should remain free. This drives a major rift between them and all of the other characters I mentioned earlier.
The villain in this movie is a guy known as Baron Zemo and honestly, I don’t have much to say about him besides the fact that he is a painfully average villain. He does some cool stuff every now and then but the focus was never on him at all honestly as it was always on the superheroes I talked about earlier. Bucky Barnes(Winter Soldier) is also in this movie and he plays an interesting character as he’s trying to get better after everything that happened during the most recent Captain America movie. There is also a big reveal later on in the movie that has to do with Tony Stark(Iron Man) and his parents. There are some absolutely incredible action scenes throughout the movie with 2 standing out above the rest. The plot is very well done with the political side of it, the confrontation between all of the characters, and everything between Captain America and Iron Man is also amazingly done.
I always rate the marvel movies and I rate them based on 10 things in the movie. Those things are: action, acting, cinematography, pacing, score, characters, ending, plot, protagonist, and antagonist. I rate all of those pieces 1-10 and then after that, I add up the scores of all 10 of them and get a total score out of 100. I gave this movie an 88/100 and the only thing that truly brought down the score a lot was the villain. I thought everything else about it was very well done between action, cinematography, plot, characters, and even the score of the movie was pretty good as well.
