Marvel Reviews: Part 6
Thor spoiler-free review
Today I will be doing a spoiler-free review of Thor. This movie is probably the most average movie Marvel has ever made. The action is pretty good when it happens, however it doesn’t happen often. The cinematography and the score are both good but not great. The plot, protagonist, and antagonist are all solid as well. The only thing in this movie that is amazing is the characters. Chris Hemsworth plays Thor amazingly and Tom Hiddleston is the same with Loki. Some of the side characters in Odin, Darcy, and Jane are all solid as well.
Throughout the movie, you see Thor take over as the King of Asgard, and Thor goes behind his father Odin’s back to invade the Frost Giants and when he returns Odin banishes him to Earth without his powers. Honestly, I liked the movie more when he was on Earth. The dynamic between him and Jane was very good and there was some very solid comedy too. Loki was also a good villain in this movie as Thor’s brother. Unlike a lot of Marvel villains, I was actually interested when Loki was on the screen.
I always rate the marvel movies and I rate them based on 10 things in the movie. Those things are action, acting, cinematography, pacing, score, characters, ending, plot, protagonist, and antagonist. I rate all of those pieces 1-10 and then after that, I add up the scores of all 10 of them and get a total score out of 100. I rated Thor a 66/100, like I said this definitely isn’t a bad movie, however, the pacing is not very good and the acting is questionable at times. There is only 1 amazing thing in the characters and everything else is solid to good, but not great.
