Marvel Reviews: Part 5
The Incredible Hulk
Today I will be doing a spoiler-free review of The Incredible Hulk. This movie is, by far, the worst Marvel movie I have ever seen. Before I go over the bad, I’ll go over the good. The cinematography in this movie is very good and there are some excellent action scenes. The protagonist is pretty solid as Edward Norton plays Hulk and does a solid job portraying a broken man in Bruce Banner with a power he doesn’t want. The score is also solid but not great. The only real side characters are Betty Ross who plays Bruce’s love interest and Thunderbolt Ross who is Betty’s dad. Neither of these characters move me at all, and they are both honestly kind of boring.
The villain is Abomination who wants to destroy Hulk and become like him. I thought that the Abomination was an abomination. They give a small reason why he wants to kill Hulk as I listed earlier, but they give no other plot to it besides that. He is by far the worst villain the MCU has ever created. Some other stuff that is pretty bad besides that villain is the pacing, characters, and ending. This isn’t even a 2-hour movie but it feels like forever with some terrible pacing, the characters are pretty horrible outside of Bruce, and the ending is boring and generic.
I always rate the marvel movies and I rate them based on 10 things in the movie. Those things are: action, acting, cinematography, pacing, score, characters, ending, plot, protagonist, and antagonist. I rate all of those pieces 1-10 and then after that, I add up the scores of all 10 of them and get a total score out of 100. I rate this movie a 47/100 and the only things that keep it from falling even lower are the action, cinematography, and protagonist. Besides these 3 things, this movie is one of the worst movies I have ever seen and everything falls short of even being below average.
