Marvel Reviews: Part 2

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel spoiler free review

Today I will be doing a spoiler-free review of Captain Marvel. This movie definitely isn’t one of my favorites that Marvel has produced, however, it’s not the worst one either. The action is alright with a solid protagonist and outstanding cinematography that carried the movie for me. The plot is solid with Captain Marvel trying to figure out her past. Nick Fury is also very entertaining in this movie and provides some very entertaining comedy.

Brie Larson does a solid job portraying Captain Marvel in the movie. She isn’t one of the best protagonists Marvel has had, but she’s definitely not in the category with the worst of them. The Skrull are unique villains and making themselves look like others is a very different power that isn’t shown much in Marvel movies. As I said earlier, Nick Fury is a very good character and has his serious parts but is mostly comedy relief and Samuel L. Jackson does an excellent job portraying it.

As I said in my last review, I rate the movies based on things in the film. Those things are action, acting, cinematography, pacing, score, characters, ending, plot, protagonist, and antagonist. I rate all of those pieces 1-10 and then after that, I add up the scores of all 10 of them and get a total out of 100. This movie gets a 53/100 for me, again it definitely isn’t that good of a film, but there are movies that will get rated lower. The things that brought it down the most for me were the acting, pacing, and characters. Outside of Captain Marvel and Nick Fury, the characters in total were very lackluster. However, the cinematography, ending, and protagonists saved the movie for me.
